Eating out somewhere just needs smart choices really.
Indian places - they will cook meals for you without the ghee if you ask them to (clarified butter used in virtually all indian dishes) and that reduces the syns, so it isn't as bad as you originally think. Pick a tomato based dish (rogan josh, etc) Korma's and creamy dishes usually have cream or something similar in to massively increase the syns. Poppadoms are 4 syns each, so avoid the Naan bread at 20 syns and pick a poppadom. Dips aren't too high in syns either; mango chutney is 2 syns per tbsp, and riata is 1 syns per tbsp.
Italian places - pick a tomato based sauce. Carbonara and creamy sauces are loaded with syns.
Chinese - black bean, mushroom and oyster sauce are all low in syns. Chop Suey is low too, and comes with noodles so no need for a seperate order of boiled rice.
Mitch - when you're looking on the website, look under 'Useful Tools' and then select the 'Eating out' tab. It'll bring up Indian, Chinese, Pub food, but will also show you specific places - Harvester, Nando's, pizza restaurants, and other to give you an idea of what to pick and what to avoid. Also, if you type into the 'Syns' area (under 'My Weight Loss Tools' and then 'Syns Online' what it is you are looking for e.g. 'Pizza Express Restaurants' it will bring up a list of things they have stored in the database. I've done this with J D Wetherspoon, Pizza Hut, Domino's, Harvester Inns and others in the past. Once you start typing the brand name of something in, it brings up a drop down list of possible matches.
Hope this helps!
