Now since I have lost almost all of the weight and I am working more on tone I would say exercise goes over diet. I mean I still watch what I eat portion wise but I am not running around tracking things, I am just making better choices about what I decide to eat. I don't split the meals in our home between myself and the others either.

I exercised for a year without watching my diet and lost maybe 10 pounds. Once I started counting calories as well, I lost 15 pounds in a few months. I think diet comes first and then exercise helps, especially if you are building muscle that will raise your metabolism.

70/30 in favor of exercise

Generally speaking I would make it 70/30 in favor of exercise. But it all depends on your lifestyle, if you are a very active person then concentrate more on workouts and less on dieting. But if your daily routine involves very little activity the dieting is the key to good health.
