Houmous syns?
I'm sure I read on a fb group that houmous was synned, does anyone know how many syns? I eat quite a lot of it with me being veggie as it's a great source of protein! Xx
As an example, Tesco Healthy Living Reduced Fat Houmous would be 8 syns for the 70g pot. They all seem to show as 2 syns per tablespoon.
Have you ever made your own? There's a great SW recipe that's free, I love it
That's similar to the one I've seen... but I use fat free fromage frais instead of the water, it's a bit tastier and creamier. I use about 2 tbsp, but add more if the texture isn't quite right

Do you have the recipe sarah? Is it just the fromage frais that's different?
It's weird, I hate chickpeas but love houmous
Yeah, just that fromage frais that is different
Mine is
400g can chickpeas
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 garlic cloves
2 tbsp fat free fromage frais
Salt
I blend the chickpeas first, then I add everything else and just keep testing it as I go along, adding more fromage frais if I want it creamier, etc. and salt to taste
It usually keeps for a few days too, so I've had it over a couple of lunch times with a stack of carrot sticks and the usual
lol
I can't say I've ever tried chickpeas on their own, but I do love them in houmous
It never comes right when I make it
but bloody hell that's a lot of syns! I may have to try making my own again. Thanks guys!
I just made the SW red pepper hummous and it is delicious! Thanks for the link StirCrazy - I never realise just how many syns were in the shop bought stuff!
Hi I can't fet fromage frais or creme fraiche where I live - could I try to make hummous with 0% greek yoghurt do you think? Never made it, never tried it - but I love dips! x
I don't see why greek yoghurt wouldn't work, but it might be quite thick.
You can make it with water instead of yoghurt, but I find it's not quite right for me, the yoghurt makes it a bit creamier which I prefer
