Hi,
I'm currently a slimming world member and have so far lost 5stone 5lb (75lbs)
My losses are usually 2-3lb average per week.
In November 16 I had my first maintain, since then I've developed a pattern, I lose weight for two weeks and then on the 3rd week I maintain, then back to two losses and a maintain.
On the weeks I maintain I'm not doing anything different to the weeks that I lose.
Has anyone else had this before? Any idea why this could be?
Thanks

Hi Bella, welcome to social slimmers

Firstly, amazing loss so far! Well done!!

Have you stuck to the same foods each week? A lot of the time we tend to stick to the same pattern of food, and our bodies become complacent at processing it and don't have to work as hard, which can lead to maintains.
Could it have something to do with your time of month?

If you're still losing, that's a huge bonus, so don't be too disheartened
Do you want to lose much more, or are you close to your target weight? Sometimes when people get close to their target weight, it takes a little longer to get there. It's strange, it's like your body knows you're close to where you want to be and it becomes annoying with maintains lol

Thank you.

After the first few maintains I did start to change things up and make sure I vary what I eat. I do still have weight to lose, I was 19st 7lb when I started, I haven't set a target but I would like to lose more.
I'm happy I'm still having the losses in between, but just can't work out why every 3rd week I maintain.
It's frustrating🤔 Also I have don't have periods due to my contraception so I wouldn't know, but I do feel bloated on my maintain weeks so possibly it could be to do with that?

It wouldn't surprise me if it was like a phantom time of the month. Your body still goes through some of the motions, even if you don't have a period. I'm the same. You'll still get the water retention as far as I know, so it could be that?

I know it's frustrating, I've been there myself, but the plus side is that you are still having losses. When you get to a stage where it's more maintains than losses that's even more annoying!

You've done amazing so far!
I've been with SW for years, and I've seen a lot of people who have lost 5+ stone and then their bodies start to plateau. It's nothing they've done wrong, it's just something that is annoyingly common.
Persevere and you will get there
