Crock Pot Pizza
I love pizza but it's not very healthy, as we all know. I've been looking for something that tastes like pizza but isn't so unhealthy, and I think I may have found it. It's called Crock Pot Pizza and it's basically all of the ingredients on a pizza, minus the crust, cooked in a slow cooker. After making a few lower-fat substitutions, the recipe looks like this:
1 1/2 pounds of lean ground beef or lean ground turkey (90% lean or leaner)
1 package of turkey pepperoni slices
1 sixteen ounce package of low-fat mozzarella cheese
1 eight ounce package of whole grain rigatoni pasta
2 jars of pizza sauce
1 can condensed cream of tomato soup
Throw everything together in a Crock Pot and voila! Dinner is served, and for a lot less calories per serving than your average slice of pizza.
Holy cow, that is interesting for sure! I don't think it will stop the masses from eating that garlic and buttery crust but this is a nice substitute. Good find! Did you like it?
That sounds good! I love pizza
That sounds, erm, interesting
does it actually taste good?! I'm the queen of thrown together type meals, but it's boggling my brain that one!
Yeah, it does taste good.
It makes a lot of food, too. The recipe said it makes 6 servings but I'm thinking it's going to make more like 10. We've already eaten off of it 6 times with at least 3 more helpings left in the pot. My hubby's been raving about it for two days now!
I'm going to have to try it! I think it's the tomato soup that's putting me off, cos it makes me feel sick for some reason! I'll have to have a think about "toppings" too, probably onions, peppers and olives! Do you think the soup is essential?!
