Spicy Toasted Shredded Wheat

My friend and I were craving something spicy and salty but wanted to keep it healthy.

She took some Shredded Wheat cereal put on some spray oil and sprinkled it with salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and a little cayenne pepper. She threw it in the oven for awhile and took it out when it was just a little browned.

It wasn't the best thing I have ever eaten but it was fairly good and a satisfying crunchy snack with a lot of fiber. It was to go along with watching a DVD movie.

I would never have thought of doing that but it does sound pretty good actually!

I think they would be really good with a dash of Worcestershire, some savory herbs, and a little bit more spray oil. I watched my friend make them and haven't tried it myself yet but I added Shredded Wheat to my shopping list for next week.

Why not just get some spicy Triscuits? It amounts to the same thing in the end. I really love to eat Triscuits because they are a high fiber, low calorie snack. They come in a lot of flavors now too.

What a good idea. I am not a big fan of spicy but that doesn't sound too hot. I might have to try it. I have shredded wheat already and all of those spices. I wonder if my kids will like it.

Well, because it was a spur of the moment snack based on what was already in the cupboards. I have never seen spicy Triscuits here. Besides, I like being able to adjust flavors to my tastes.

Haha, I just ate the last of my Shredded Wheat last night while watching Elysium. I love the regular Shredded Wheat and not the new flavor kinds. Triscuits are a fantastic idea as well. Just make sure to have a drink nearby, they are very dry!
