Is it as simple as low carb and 500 calories?

You have to pretty much cut out carbs and stick to 500 calories? Am I getting this right? Is that it?

Do you have to have a consultant or can you do this on your own?

Is it just shakes or do you eat food?

Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to get my head around how it works.
