I am getting ready to start replacing one meal a day with a shake or smoothie. How long should I do this for? Is it healthy to make this a long term habit?

Do you know which one you're gonna do? Guessing it will be 2 shakes and a dinner? or are you thinking something along the lines of cambridge diet and do 3 shakes?

What kind of shake will you be making? It is probably better to try it out short term at first. Breakfast would be a good meal to substitute with a shake or smoothie

I often have shakes/smoothies but adapt them round me. I'm not really a breakfast person so this suits me and sometimes at lunch if I'm busy I will make them up too.

That's what I do more or less. When I do shakes it's most often for breakfast. I can't really eat in the morning, but to have something, a shake gets my system jumpstarted. If I am crazy busy, then I will have one for an afternoon snack also.

I am not following a specific diet. I will be making my own smoothies. I am planning on replacing my breakfast meal. Ideally, I would like this to become part of my lifestyle and not just a diet. I am just not sure if it is a healthy thing to do on a long term basis.

I would like to try out different green smoothie recipes. Will I be getting enough nutrients for breakfast? Should I add some other ingredients to the smoothie?

For me it can either be this or nothing. I've been having overnight oats occasionally for breakfast but I'd go without over having breakfast... When I do a morning at the gym this isn't really a good idea (the nothing) so shakes/smoothies suit me as a life style change to fuel up of even post workout

If using milk try rice/almond/coconut milk instead of dairy

Sorry I edited rather than quoted. Dohh!

I would probably give it a go trying out different types of smoothies and see which ones you feel best with. I haven't made juices or smoothies for a while now, but it's something that I would like to give a go again

So far I am having great success replacing breakfast with a smoothie. It has also made my mornings less stressful. I can definitely keep this up.
