Big bag of apples

I have a 5 pound bag of apples. I know I should not have bought so many but they were cheap and came from a local orchard. It is that time of year.

What do I do with all these apples? I am the only person that will be eating them. I was thinking of making some applesauce and maybe a coleslaw with apples. I may bake a few with some cinnamon.

How do you eat your apples? I'm looking for some ideas.

Oh I've heard baking with cinnamon is YUM!

Even some with a low fat custard, no crumble?

I think you put apples in beetroot chutney, my mum made some the other day and I'm sure she put apples in! You can put stewed apples in baking as well as a kind of butter/sugar substitute. If you google vegan baking you should be able to find some!

I tend to eat them sliced. Sometimes I will add peanut butter to the slices. You could always put them by the curb in a basket with a sign stating "Free Apples!". Plenty of people would appreciate a free apple. Or dice them and mix them in with your oatmeal!

Considering that I spent money to buy these apples, I don't think I'll be putting them out by the curb.

I have eaten a few for snacks and they are a little tart so I took a couple and removed the cores and sprinkled in some cinnamon and a tiny amount of brown sugar. I put a small dot of butter into the hole too and baked them for about an hour.

They came out very good.

Ooo that sounds really nice! Apples disappear here as soon as I buy them! My small one's like a fruit bat - she'd eat fruit all day if I let her!
