Sticking to a diet when eating out

I very rarely eat out now so when I do I just have whatever I want then climb back on the diet wagon the day after. If I was to eat out more regularly then I'd pick healthier options and ask for jacket potato instead of chips. Do be careful though, I have read before that places like weather spoons deep fry their jacket potatoes to get them crispy which would obviously be more calories/syns/points!

Yeah I read it on the weight watchers site when someone was asking for healthy options from weather spoons. Until then I'd never heard of it either.

I try to eat less during the day and maybe the day before or after so I have some wiggle room. I don't like to restrain myself when I'm actually at the restaurant.

Ive known about the deep fried jacket potatoes for ages! I always specifically ask now if they are baked in the oven!

If im eating out i tend to say 'fuck it' and have a treat... because its very rare that i eat out!

Wow, I've never even heard of a deep fried jacket potato! I've always just assumed that they were baked in the oven

I read somewhere that when eating out you need to keep these three things in mind:
What you are eating and drinking: Check out the calorie amount (some restaurants print calorie counts on their menu), choose dishes with lots of vegetables and lean protein. Add tea (without sugar) to your meals instead of wine.
How much you are eating and drinking
How your meal is prepared: Avoid fried items; instead opt for grilled or boiled.
