The milk fat debate -- thoughts?

Okay, I have something called PCOS -- Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I joined a Facebook-based support group and there's a debate going on the page about whether low fat dairy or full-fat dairy is healthier. I have always been taught that low fat dairy is the way to go for anyone over the age of 2, but many people on this page say that full-fat dairy is more filling and satisfying and that low-fat dairy products are just loaded with added sugar. Thoughts?

I haven't heard about added sugar in low-fat dairy products, and I sincerely hope it isn't true. I'm so used to skim milk that any other milk is too thick for me, and I can't enjoy it.

I know that non-pasteurized milk has a wealth of health benefits, and I'll sometimes choke a glass down, but I've not heard much about full-fat pasteurized milk.

I'm sure someone told me ages back that all they do to low fat milk is water it down? I can see the argument that full fat would be better for you cos it's higher in all the "good" stuff so you don't need more. I don't know tbh! Personally, I'm not a fan of milk and I think we'd probably all be better off for not drinking it, but I can't get used to the taste of alternative milks in coffee!

This is something I've been getting onto ... Too much dairy isn't good for you and yes low fat dairy products such as muller lights will make up for taste with extras such a sugar. As of next week I will be buying full fat natural yogurts and fresh berries and fruit to add and I now use rice milk or almond milk with my shakes.

Low fats vs good fats is probably part of the debate? I'm starting to think more I read that yes good fats and right choice of foods is better

I agree with Wobbles on this one. I used to drink skimmed but it always tasted like water so I wondered why I bothered. Now I'm convinced that low fat anything isn't good for you at all. We just have to wait for the food industry to catch up, as it's difficult to find anything that isn't low fat at the moment!

An article from CBS news. Not an advertisement just news from CBS. It says:
Companies focusing on mid-calorie foods to attract consumers
Nonfat cheese that tastes like plastic. Low-calorie soda that leaves a bitter aftertaste. Sugar-free brownies that crumble like Styrofoam... Dieters have learned an important lesson: When you take the fat and calories out of your favorite treats, you sometimes have to say goodbye to the taste too.
I can't leave a link to the article as I haven't posted 10 times hahahahah. I'll do this after my 10th post...

Well, I checked the nutrition labels on full fat, 2%, 1%, and skim milk, and they all say 12 grams of sugar per serving, so I don't think the part about "adding" sugar is necessarily true. Still, I am starting to wonder. On the one hand, some fat is good, but on the other, milk is an animal product so the fat is an animal fat, right? Isn't that the not-so-good fat? I just don't know. I think I am going to stick with my 1% for now!
