Be careful of where you keep your scale

I bought a new scale in September. I just went to use it and now it doesn't work. There is a lot of condensation moisture inside the plastic area where you see the read out. I guess it wasn't a good idea to keep it in the bathroom when it gets all steamy in there. If it doesn't properly dry out and start working again, I'll have to get another one.

Thank you for the warning! We keep our scales in the spare room but I never thought that keeping them in the bathroom would be bad for them, although I can see why now. Hope you can get hold of some new scales soon

I moved it into the kitchen where it is warm for now to see if maybe it will dry out. Sometimes you get lucky, like when your cell phone gets wet and won't work, and then it's okay when it dries out. It wasn't very expensive so maybe it wasn't sealed properly.

We have always kept our scale in the bathroom. We haven't had any problems yet. Maybe you bought a faulty set of scales. I hope it dries out for you.

I have kept my scales in the bathroom in the past, but don't anymore. I now keep them in the living room tucked underneath the couch.

I've always kept mine in the bathroom - probably why they never last long! Have you tried putting them in some rice to absorb the moisture?

On that note, you might want to put it in a container of dry rice like we do with our cell phones. That will help draw out the moisture in there. I never had a problem with our scales in the bathroom. We have a window where I let a lot of steam out.

That is a good trick and it does work well for phones and watches but I think I would need a bucket or two of rice to do that job on a bathroom scale.

It looks like it is drying out. I don't see as much moisture inside the display. That's the trouble with electronics. If I have to buy a new one, it will be a regular mechanical scale.

I have always kept my scale in the bathroom and I have never had any trouble with it. We have had the digital scale we have now for a good 5 years and it still works great. I hope that it dries out, since they aren't exactly cheap.
