I have to be serious this year now and for those who still have weight to lose how many lbs a week do you plan to lose and what is the healthy amount of weight to lose each week in your opinion? I say in your opinion because I read so much conflicting information.

Thanks

I think that the healthy guide is usually 1-2 lbs a week but it depends on how much you have to lose. Very overweight people will lose loads in a week whereas those closer to goal may not lose much.

I am happy with 1-2 lbs a week. It feels like ages since I've lost anything but I haven't been particularly good

I agree with Bevziibubble. One to two pounds per week is about right. Actually, I am pretty happy if I manage to lose even a few pounds per month. I know it's not a lot, but since I can't exercise very much because of my back, I consider it a win.

I aim for 1-2 pounds a week, but I usually lose about 5 pounds every two weeks, but that is because of my metabolism.

Many get disappointed with slow weight loss but 1-2lb a week is a healthy loss. I lost around 4lb in the first couple of months but had 4 stone to lose.

I have always heard that it's not safe to lose more than 1-2 pounds a week after the first couple of weeks. I have PCOS, though, and that makes it hard for me even to lose that much. I'm doing well if I can get 1/2 lb. down a week!

If I had my way, it'd be about five pounds a week, ha! I know that's not possible, realistic, or safe, though. I'd be fine just losing a pound a week if I could do it consistently. To be completely honest though, I've decided not to aim for a number anymore; it seems to be setting yourself up for disappointment to say, "I'm going to lose X pounds per week," when there are so many factors playing into it and not all of them are within your control (like your metabolism, genes, etc.).

I aim for a minimum of a pound a week and am delighted if I manage two sometimes.

See a few comments that say it's not safe/recommended to lose more than 2lb. I managed to put more than that on over Christmas, sure losing the same amount in the same time should be ok I've been reading up on ketosis diets like the Cambridge Diet and from what I've read, as long as you are careful, it's ok to lose a little more?

Having said that I would be happy with 1-2lb at the moment.

I have my calorie goals set for a weight loss of 1 pound per week, but I sure don't mind losing more than that! If I am able to keep up 1 pound a week lost, I'll be 52 pounds lighter by this time next year.
