Are there any sausages considered healthier then normal shop bought ones? I see reduced fat sausages, are they really better for us?

What sausages do you buy?

Reduced fat aren't always the best option, they may take out the fat and replace it within bread and less quality ingredients to bulk up the mixture and increased salt to make up the flavour. Look for percentage of meat, 80% or above and look what other ingredients are in them.

Check out the Debbie & Andrews sausages. I buy them from ASDA. I buy the Harrogate & chicken sausages.

These are lower carb which is what I avoid.

HECKS chicken sausages are also NOM, my fav are the zesty lemon sausages:

Great with eggs and spinach

Some butchers sell chickens sasusages and they are amazing.

I've seen people mention Porky Light sausages who are following slimming world but I haven't tried them.

More than anything I'd opt for chicken sausages over pork.

I did look at the nutritional label on ASDA butchers choice pork sausages and butchers choice reduced fat pork sausages and actually I expected the 'sugar' value to be higher and it wasn't. Always check the labels is my rule to make sure it's not got anything 'added' to make up for flavour. I just prefer to have less ingredients in my meat. If you compare the D&A's sausages vs ASDAs for example the ingredients list is very different.

Hi again. I tried both of your suggestions Wobbles and loved both. Thanks for the tips. I also started reading labels more.

We regularly eat Quorn sausages, especially their Best of British which are really fab.
