I believe that fruits in general have more carbohydrates than vegetables, since fruits tend to have a lot of sugar. Is this correct? Are there any exceptions?

Yes, this is true. I think that vegetables such as carrots peas and sweetcorn can be quite starchy though.

This is all very true but I wouldn't get caught up in worrying about the carbs in fruits and vegetables. Our bodies need what these foods contain. Yes they have sugar and carbohydrates but as long as you are not eating just these things alone, you will still lose weight.

It is a good thing that I like fruits and vegetables and that the market nearby has a good selection. There are so many ways to eat them that I haven't gotten too bored yet.

Everything in moderation. I don't think overdosing on vegetables is going to cause any problems with dieting. I don't think I've ever seen an overweight vegetarian Inturn I think there is only so much fruit you can eat. As long as you aren't making tons of smoothies or drinking litres of juice I think eating veg or fruit in any quantity should be fine

I have read melon is the lowest in calories and mostly water so less carbs and natural sugar?

Our bodies NEED carbs for energy, so please don't get caught up in that line of thinking that all carbs are bad or that you should restrict your fruit and veggie intake. You need five to nine servings a day of them! To answer your question, though, yes, fruits in general have more carbs than veggies, with the exception of corn and potatoes. Beans are also high in carbs, but technically, they aren't veggies -- they're legumes.
