Eating before a run

Do you eat before a run? I didn't eat before I did a run outdoors for the first time today and I felt a lack of energy but I've never gone outside running before so maybe it was that? I can run first thing in the morning sometimes but it will vary due to my job so sometimes it will be mod morning and other times the afternoon.

Have you any tips when I should eat and what I should eat before a run when it isn't first thing in the morning?

In the mornings at stupid o'clock I don't but if I am running late morning I will eat yogurt with oats, berries, granola or alike and that would be 1.5-2 hours before I run or if it's late afternoon I'd have lunch something like sour dough bread and scrambled eggs, again 1.5-2 hours before.

Another option is to snack before a run, fruit such as orange or banana is a good choice pre run. Then brekkie or lunch when I'm back post workout.

What time of day did you run on the day you posted your question?

What about others ... do you eat before you run?

Yes, you can take some light food but 2-3 hours before you run
