What I find is most helpful to me is packing snacks to take with me to work. I always make sure I have at least a decent-sized piece of speed fruit and a low-syn snack with me.

Something that helps is finding a snack that TASTES naughty but is low-syn, like the Ryvita ferrero rocher (only take 2-3 into work with you). You could make yourself up a chocolate mousse using quark and choc shot/options (I think there's a recipe on the SW website).

Or even make some syn-free hummus (I have a recipe if you want) and take it in with some carrot sticks. I've always found that if I'm eating something that SHOULD be bad for me but is low-syn, it does the trick--particularly sweet things, as it satisfies the craving.

Of course, today, I've had my orange AND a very small sliver of the millionaire's cheesecake that some idiot brought in, but 9 times out of 10, it works.

How about keeping yourself occupied with patient notes? When I was working at social services I found writing up service user notes/reflection notes and doing spreadsheets pretty easy and once the buscuit tin was around or someone's birthday/wedding was on the horizon. I was like "Jenny, I'll offer to type up my notes after the meeting, don't worry about that timesheet/email I will have it done on your desk in an hour. Next thing i know, it was done and my waistline said "Thank you" and the same happened when I was at conferences and we had finger food/buffet. I would eat a little bit to be sociable, but not pile my plate up with cake, buscuits, pork pies and would empty out the tea bags in seconds.

Yeah... taking on other people’s work didn’t work at all with me 😩😂

When I was able to work I was a carer (oh how times have changed now I HAVE carers &#128580 but I did pretty much the same thing when people went for smoke breaks so I didn’t start smoking again

People started taking advantage of me and when I called them out on it they got all bitchy. Carers can really be bitchy sometimes 😆😂
