Night time eating

For me, the night time is the hardest time of the day. I stay busy during daylight hours, but if I am alone and not busy in the evenings, then all I want to do is eat. Is there a way to fight the cravings of just snacking at night time? Or anyone have a good strategy that has worked for them?

I get such bad bedtime hunger that I do need to eat a snack at bedtime. I find that saving some calories for a snack helps. And staying as busy as you can helps too to prevent eating for the sake of it.

I tend to eat loads in the evenings too! I used to just not buy snacks, but we seem to always have them in now.

This must be a common struggle. It was my biggest problem when I was trying to lose. I remember reading that Oprah would drink a cup of tea in the evening if she got hungry. I thought it was a good idea until I was doing it and yes, it substituted for food, but I always ended up having to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

This is going to sound a little "slow", but I never thought about planning to save some calories for the evening eating! That would make more sense to me than trying to NOT eat anything in the evenings and then beating myself up when I do! Thanks!

Does the tea not keep you awake, Justine, or do you have decaf? If I get hungry before bed I usually have a glass of water. I rarely eat before sleeping because it gives me nightmares.

I'm not alone! I swear, I could go the entire day without eating much at all, but once evening hits, my appetite surges. It's terrible! I've tried to combat it with things like sugarless candies.
