Weakness for French toast

I went out to breakfast with a friend this morning and I was bad. I ordered French toast with strawberries and cream on top. It was delicious but the rest of the day was spent feeling so guilty.

I can't think it's that bad but depending on how it's cooked and how much oil and if any extra sugar? Bread moderation, eggs protein, strawberries yes ... Cream ok maybe not so great but I wouldn't kick myself over it!

I don't think that was a bad choice. You didn't get syrup. That is what contains the most calories. I think you made a great choice for breakfast. I love French toast. I love syrup too!

It's tough when we beat ourselves up for even the smallest thing, I understand you! I would be glad that you didn't drench them in syrup! When I go overboard, I go BIG! The strawberries and cream wouldn't be too bad; just try to be kind to yourself when these things happen, because they do, we're only human!

Oh, yes, it was a bad choice. The strawberries were the kind that are like pie filling. If they had just been plain berries that would have been okay. Then on top of the whole thing they put a mound of whipped cream. I get queasy just thinking about it now. It was too much and too rich. I couldn't eat it all which is a good thing.

It was! That's the problem. Normally I am not much of a breakfast person and it is rare that I go to a restaurant that early but I made the exception because my friend was visiting from out of town.

The French toast was almost like Belgian waffles with a hint of vanilla flavor to them. I never make waffles or pancakes at home unless they are the frozen kind you stick in the toaster so it was a naughty time that won't happen again right away.

Well I don't think you always have to be so strict or hard on yourself when the day hasn't gone so well. Hopefully you enjoyed catching up with a friend above it all ... I however want one of those now

I agree that you can have a treat once in a while just not all the time. I make french toast for my children on Sundays and make sure I make just enough for them and my husband. That way there is never leftovers for me to eat!

I was watching a morning show once and they were doing a cooking demonstration. They made a healthy French toast that was baked in the oven. I may try making something like that one of these days. I'd rather have it for lunch or dinner, though, with fresh berries rather than the kind that have been cooked in sugar.
