The Quit Smoking Thread
I am trying to start my new healthy life and if I am going to work out more, I am going to have to give up smoking so I can breathe.
Someone else here said they wanted to quit also, so I thought this thread would be a good place to complain and cry as we suffer through it.
Any former smokers here that can offer any good tips for quitting?
Strength in numbers! Today was supposed to be day 1 of giving it a proper go at quitting, I'd ran out of tobacco and all related paraphernalia! Woke up thinking I can totally do this! To find my OH had kindly left me one filter tip, one paper and enough baccy for 1 cigarette
zero willpower! This is my last though! I'm switching to an e cigarette, it's not quite the same but I've done well in the past with it! Good luck!
My friend Scott tried the e-cigarette and he liked it because he could smoke it inside. He didn't stick with it though and I think that is because he didn't use the nicotine, just the vapors. Might have been better to taper off. I am interested in trying it. Let me know what you think! I'd rather hear opinions before I rush out and spend money!
I do really like it, I quit for a couple of weeks in the spring using it! The only thing I found was I craved a proper cigarette after meals! Doing good today though, I had the one early this morning and haven't been bothered since, although I've had a lot of use out of the e cig!
Oh god I'm really struggling now! 9 hours cigarette free
I'm finding it really really hard now though and have hidden myself in the kitchen so I don't shout at the kids
am properly restless as well! I'm really proud of myself though, in an average day I'd have had about 15/20 by now! I'm now having a debate with myself over whether to have one when OH gets home or not, I know deep down that this is the hardest bit and if I have one it'll take me back to square one, but I feel flippin awful ATM!
I smoked for almost twenty years and to give you an idea I started very young as I am barely in my mid-30's right now. I stopped almost four years ago and swapped over to a personal vaporizer ("e-cig"). I love it. Nicotine I can control by levels and nothing else.
PrincessPikachu - Are you using the nicotine cartridges or just plain vapor?
Avidian - Do you still use your e-cigarette?
My goal is to use an e-cigarette and taper down until I can stop that too. I've tried the gum and the patches and made it four months and then went back to smoking again. I haven't had an actual cigarette in about 2 years. I smoke the Black and Mild filtered, thin cigarellos. I don't really inhale much of it, and one will last me hours because I light it, take a couple drags and put it out again. Just enough to help the cravings.
I don't want to live like this anymore. It's too expensive, and not the best thing for a person's health. It scares me because a good friend is in the hospital right now with COPD and she can't breathe.
I'm using the nicotine stuff. I was doing really really well til yesterday afternoon! I'd had one in the morning and then come lunch time I was climbing the walls so had another, it actually knocked me sick
so I was all chuffed thinking that was s big success, but it went down hill from there! I've got my monthly visitor too, which is making it harder cos I've got terrible mood swings
Oh, not fun. It's hard enough to go through without
that adding to it.
I am not doing so well with it either. I was in the middle of a nicotine fit that was so bad that I went and bought some.
I really need to get one of the e-cigs. Really!
What's the difference with the nicotine cartridges and vapor?
I want an e-cig but I hate the ones that look like a cigarette would rather have one of those colour ones plus I have the problem I smoked ultra lights and the e-cig u used previously choked me!
