I came across this article about how our teenagers are obsessing to achieve the 'perfect' body which has a huge thigh gap. Apparently, social media is to blame for the rate at which the obsession is spreading. It's now all about being skinny, not being healthy!
I have heard about this and even seen groups on Facebook about it.
It's sad that people feel that they have to be this skinny rather than trying to be fit and healthy
A few years ago having a bubble-shaped butt, ala Jennifer Lopez, was in style. Now it's back to being painfully thin. I wish young women would concentrate more on their brains than their individual body parts.
Jeans, I couldn't agree more. So many people obsess about being the perfect weight or body shape and then suffer emotionally when they can't achieve their "goal".
The problem lies in our definition of the word 'perfect'. Who actually knows what perfect is? Each generation of women is striving to be thinner than the last and I foresee a world of walking skeletons. Besides, someone should tell these kids that staring the body also starves the brain!
There are actually Facebook groups about having a specific sized gap between the thighs? People have really skewed priorities coupled with way too much time on their hands.
I'd love a thigh gap but I know I'll never ever have one cos my body's just not that shape! I really dislike how obsessed the media makes people about their weight/shape I'm bad for it though, I'm always comparing myself to others!
