Feeling dumb

Is it just me, or are there others like me, who's found out only recently (today) that fat loss is 82% nutrition and 18% exercise?

All these years I've been working out like a soldier and eating like a...I won't even say. No wonder I've never successfully lost all my fat. Just as well, I'm naturally small, but I still feel like a fool.

Have you never heard anyone say you are what you eat? I wouldn't have said it's as high as 82% nutrition, but it's certainly more important than exercise! You can exercise as much as you want, but if you eat crap it's not gona do much!

Exercise is important but it does start with a good diet. Exercise just builds on the benefits of the diet

If you eat a lot of carbs, which turn to sugar/glucose in the body, your body will use that to burn for energy first. If you give your body protein and fats, it will draw on those when it cannot get the sugar to burn and will start burning the fat storage for energy. That's the way I understand it and the basis for all the low carb diets.

There's nothing wrong with all the exercising you've been doing, sizeseven. I bet your muscles are nice and strong. Me? I need to get some flab off of me.

I always thought that I'm not too big because of my genes, and that exercise and diet contribute equally to fat loss. I only started growing bigger about five years ago, and I use to eat so much more before that. Now that I'm eating healthier, I'm sure I'll get back to my normal size soon.

Tbh I think there does come a time/age when your metabolism and whatnot slows down! My mum was always like a rake and then after my sister she could never get her weight back down! My OHs quite conscious that he's hitting the age where it'll all change, although to be fair, eating an entire cream sponge cake for his tea doesn't help

That's very interesting, I never knew that. I eat a lot of high carb foods like potatoes and pasta!

I have never actually heard that before. Do you have any sources for studies you can link to? I would be interested in reading more if you can find some sites. Thanks!
