Go and have a kebab

Has anyone experienced others suggesting to eat junk over your healthy options?

I post some foody pics on my FB and not so long ago I posted one of my new meal ideas which I'd made for the first time and one of the replies was "wtf, get yourself a large kebab before you disappear"... I had to hold myself back. Firstly I'm a nice size in jeans and I'm 10 half stone only just within ten healthy BMI so I'm not disappearing, I'm well nourished and I exercise ... I'm starting to consider myself a healthy person. I like naughty foods like anyone and I love my vodka.

Why does seeing others eating healthy bother some people so much it sounds like they think you have some eating disorder and need a horrible fatty kebab to cure it?

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you deal with it?

Ugh, it's so annoying isn't it! My parents are the same and seem to think that healthy eating is weird and people who do it obviously are obsessed and have an eating disorder. They think junk food is so good why shouldn't everyone eat it. And they don't seem to think of the health effects, even the effects that go beyond weight.

Maybe some people feel bad about their own eating habits and are trying to derail you. Some people can't seem to understand why anyone would want to eat healthily and think it's boring or obsessive. But it's good for us and makes us feel good and healthy.

I have no idea how to deal with it unfortunately, other than just explaining you like to eat healthily the majority of the time as it makes you feel good, but you allow yourself treats too

Oh no do they, torture for you :/

I replied wondering if I should also order a beer belly too... Drink beer eat kebabs! Knowing the person I don't think they were being nasty at all but meh, where was the need to even say it.

Exactly, there was no need for them to say anything if they didn't have anything positive to say!

WTF, who said that?! My OH's very much like that though, I know he struggles a lot with it as when we got together I could really put the food away, was a massive meat eater and also ate a lot of crap But obvs now I don't eat any meat, my portion sizes are a lot smaller (still huge, but nothing like before) and I do try and eat healthily 90% of the time! According to him I'm into "weird shit and herbal tea"

Tbh my dad's the worst though, not in a healthy eating way, but he's ALWAYS offering me meat, we tend to have lunch there weekly and every time he'll offer me meat! And give me a lecture on how it's just not healthy not to eat meat cos obvs I've not researched or anything ad don't know how to make balanced meals!

I hate it when people make rude comments like that. Hey, if you want to be unhealthy and a slob I'm okay with that. Don't criticize me for trying to be a healthier person. I find that comment to be very offensive.

It looked well nice that! So much so I was tempted to try it!

I've been meat free well over a year now and didn't eat it for about 3 years as a teenager, so you'd think he'd be used to it by now!

sometimes i think people have no clues as they think healthy food doesn't taste good or something!

I noticed also they don't realize how we were before unhealthy and uncomfortable in our body and the commitments it takes to be healthy to eat healthy etc...sometimes when i tell people how much i weighted before they are " OH you weighted that much ? " like its a surprise to them.

I have faced already with many people who think i am so miserable eating boiled chicken breasts and green salad! Very funny to listen to them;-)) I answered to my colleagues that actually they are miserable, not me: putting hundreds of pounds of salt, covering EVERYTHING with mayo and ketchup, drinking and eating thousands of pounds of sugar! They are so miserable because they do not even know the real taste of food because of all that crap! My colleagues looked very shocked;-)) But i guess from now one nobody will ever tell me something stupid about my tasty and healthy food;'-)))
