Indian Takeaway syns

Hi All

I have been doing SW for nearly 3yrs now and am going to the Indian for the first time and need to be super good.

Its a banquet evening so you have to have a Starter, Main, Side and Rice/Nan.

I have planned out most of my meal, Chicken tikka pieces for Starter, Chicken Shashlik for Main but am just trying to plan my Side and Rice.

I am happy with boiled rice but for a bit of variety, I was wondering if anyone knew the syn value of lemon or garlic rice?

Also on the sides, I am looking at Bombay Potatoes, Saag Aloo or Garlic Mushrooms but I cannot find any syn values for sides at all. Can anyone give any pointers?

Thanks for your help.

The rice - the SW website doesn't show anything for any other rice at an Indian Restaurant or Takeaways except for plain boiled or pilau. To be safe, you could always ask how the rice is flavoured and cooked. If it's done by using oils, count the syns the same as Pilau.

As for the others syns:

Bombay Potatoes, average portion (350g serving) 7 syns
Gobi Aloo Saag, average portion (350g serving) 12 syns
Garlic Mushrooms - these seem to vary, from 20-27 syns per serving depending on where you get them (there is no specific Indian Restaurants/Takeaways listing for garlic mushrooms, but they are listed for other places. One of which listed the item as breaded garlic mushrooms, so if they aren't breaded, knock a few syns off)

Just a tip, if you are looking on the SW website for syns, use 'Indian Restaurants/Takeaways' at the start of your search and type in the name of the dish you are looking for e.g. Indian Restaurants/Takeaways Bombay Potatoes

Thank you, I don't have access to the SW website anymore as haven't weighed in for more than 8 weeks. I thought that might be the case with the rice so thanks.
I can't find any reference to Saag Aloo at all (different to the one you've referenced above) as it is potatoes and spinach, I thought it might be the same or better than the Bombay Potatoes.

Saag aloo is generally made with fried potatoes though, which will always hike the syns up
