Red n Green days - plus one EE day?

Hi - just a thought. I'm following red n green days - would I be allowed to have an EE day in between? Then I wouldn't have to get all hot and bothered about my lasagne?!

Of course! You can switch between them all at any time. Do you prefer red/green days? As I think I said before, EE is so much easier

Oh that's good. I just know that 11 years ago I lost 2 stone on red n green. Problem with EE for me is that I detest veg and if I have to have salad with everything every night I'll give up! I think it's a third carbs, third protein and third veg? Don't know. I'm having one of those days where I can't decide anything. Couldn't decide on red OR green till 10 mins ago and it's now 11.28 am over here and I should be thinking about lunch! I think I'm feeling a bit down because I don't 'feel' any thinner - I did the first week then only lost 1 lb last week. Maybe I'm just tired xxxxx

Yes it is 1/3 fruit/veg, 1/3 meat/protein, 1/3 carbs.
You don't have to have a salad with everything, you can have whatever veg you actually like. Either that, or eat a bowl of fruit BEFORE you eat your meal. If you have it afterwards it doesn't have the same effect.
As an example, if you were having chicken, chips and beans as a meal (don't knock it, it's a great meal lol!) I'd have either a bowl of berries or a couple of apples or satsumas before my meal to add the speed element... Does that make sense?

Oh I tend to do that anyway just to fill me up a bit. Maybe I do EE and don't even know it lol!

I've just read that lasagne sheets are 3.5 syns each on a red day - yikes that's 31.5 syns, even in 4 portions it's 8 syns.

But...if I did an EE day I would eat loads of fruit then have a portion of lasagne, a potato's worth of chips and garlic mushrooms? My hexa would be the cheese in the sauce (plus more synned on top) and I'd still have a hexb left for a sandwich at lunchtime? With fruit?

This is how I'm reading this - please correct me if it's wrong!! EE is: everything that is free on red and free on green is ALL free on EE but you only get 1 hexa and 1 hexb. You HAVE to have a third fruit or veg before or during your meal. For example, you can have tuna AND sweetcorn. Mince AND mash?

To me that sounds like I'd be cutting down on the amount of bread, cake, chocolate, butter, cream, oil etc that I use and synning mayo, ketchup, mustard, honey, hoisin etc and, basically, just eating more fruit n veg??? Makes sense - I must eat half a loaf a day.

So, today then if I change to EE, I've had a slice of cake for brekkie (1 syn), a sardine n toms toastie (1 hexb) and an apple n yoghurt (2 syns). So I have 1 hexa and 7 syns to spare? I could make a 'proper' lasagne (0% for sauce) with chips n mushrooms as long as I eat fruit beforehand?

Got a headache now..................

In short- Yes.
Although I assume that your lasagne sauce will have tomatoes and onions in it? That would count towards your 1/3 of fruit/veg so you wouldn't necessarily need to eat fruit before you eat the lasagne.
I only suggest the fruit before a meal if you have no veg or fruit in your meal at all.
Does that clear it up?

Wow that was a quick reply! Okeydokey, I get the no veg with meal = eat fruit before bit now. This is just not going to feel right - having pasta AND meat lol! Right, my weigh in is on Monday so I'm going to try 2 days of EE and see what happens. Thank you so much for explaining it all! x

Lol, enjoy! I know it takes some getting used to for everyone who did red/green in the past, but you'll get the hang of it

Enjoy it! It's great to have meat and carbs together. Like Sarah said, you don't need to eat salad. Think of curry or pasta sauces made from tomatoes (or mushy peas). Or soups. Baked beans count too. If you've read our food diaries I hope they've provided a bit of inspiration

Baked beans are a protein food. They used to be classed as a super speed, but they now come under the 'P' bracket
