Flour in homemade pittas?

Hi. I read in a recipe for doner kebabs that pittas are 4 syns? Is that for a normal 'shop bought' size one or is it a mini sized one?

Don't have any so I was thinking of making my own - am I right in thinking that 20 calories = 1 syn? So if I worked out the calories for flour n oil that I would use I could work out the syn value? Many thanks x

Yes, there is a 'rule' that 20 calories = 1 syn if there are no free foods present in something.

But just so you have them, these are the actual syn values for Flour and Oil

Flour - 25g plain = 4.5 syns
Flour - 25g self-raising = 4 syns
Flour - 25g wholemeal = 4 syns
Oil - 1 tbsp (15ml), all varieties = 6 syns

As for the 4 syns for the pitta breads, that applies to the mini white ones (the standard size are 7.5 syns)
The mini wholemeal ones are 3.5, and standard are 7.

Oh you absolute darling - that's saved me hours on the internet! Are you a counsellor? You seem to be a font of knowledge x

Just worked out the syns from an allrecipes one - 4 pittas = 34.5 syns (waaah!) and that's without the yeast...so 9 syns per pitta (any idea howmuch yeast is?). Guess I won't be making pittas then. Are tortillas - shop bought white ones - any less syns (she asks desperately) xxx

lol, no I'm not a SW consultant... I just have access to the website so can check syn values easily, plus I've been a member for 5 years so if I don't know a bit about it by now, then I'm scuppered! haha

1 sachet of dried yeast is only 1 syn, or 50g of fresh yeast is 1.5 syns

As for tortilla wraps, they are approx the following:
White - approx 58g = 8.5 syns
Wholemeal - approx 64g = 8 syns each

So wholemeal are obviously better but still high-ish in syns

Counsellor? Lol, that's what I need! I meant consultant...

So I make a pitta for 9 syns or I open the tortillas and have one for 8.5 syns. Hmm - I would normally eat two for dinner! I guess neither of them would be a HexB? You gotta love me - I'm still trying to magically make it OK to have one! x

They can only be classed as a b choice if you get one of these...

Bfree foods - wheat & gluten free multigrain wrap (42g)
Weight Watchers Love Fibre White & Wholemeal 42g wrap
Weight Watchers Love Fibre White & Wholemeal 45g Pitta

I've found those so far... I'll let you know if I come across anymore!

Hmm, they don't show on the SW website, so I wouldn't want to say your could use them as your hex b because the amounts might not be right x
