Rice on a Red day?

Hi just joined and very excited! I'm living in Bulgaria and have decided to do SW from home - I did it once about 10 years ago in the UK and loved it. I used to do Red n Green days and that's the only one I understand so I'm going to stick to that (I think!!!). I don't understand extra easy or food optimising - or are they the same thing? Lol. My query is rice. Free on a green day, fine, but how much could I have as a HexB on a red day? Or would that not be allowed and I'd have to syn it - in which case would someone be so kind as to tell me how many syns it would be please? Just plain old long grain white rice. Many thanks xxx

Sadly, rice isn't allowed on a red day, unless you syn it
I haven't got my old books to hand, but I don't think it'd be worth the syns

How about cauliflower rice??

Ah, I'm not a lover of veg (can tolerate carrots n parsnips if they're roasted in honey!) and cauliflower is a total no-no I'm afraid - can't abide the stuff. Thanks for the suggestion tho - I guess my curries will have to be eaten with a potato from now on. I wonder what the issue with rice is? Don't think I ever knew! My next challenge is to try and make mushy peas so I can try the mushy pea curry that people are raving about - no mushy peas or dried peas over here so I'll have to use garden peas. Just to finish my moaning...there's no such thing as quark, fromage frais, creme fraiche, jelly or low fat anything except yoghurt here!!! Ho hum - just keep smiling - at least they sell jaffa cakes xxx

Must be difficult living in Bulgaria, and trying to follow SW
Well, instead of rice, you can use a measured amount of whole wheat pasta as an HEB (if you can find that), again, until I find my old books, I can't tell you the amount - sorry

It's interesting shall we say? lol Plenty of pasta here - and rice! It's easy to concentrate on what I can't find (Bovril) so I'm just going to make some menus with meat or pasta n potatoes. Haven't considered pasta with curry - (do I sound like a curry fiend?) - I guess it's try it and see. Doesn't sound right but then my OH can't understand why I love sardine sandwiches! Thank you so much for your advice and suggestions - I shall plod on. Hope it's all going well for you and sarahc and we can all fit into our Christmas dresses! xxx

I would say to follow Extra Easy as it's really, well, easy!
You have one 1 HEa and 1HEb. Then your 15 syns and all the free food that you had on both red and green day. So meat, pasta, rice, potatoes, fruit and veg.
Food optimising is just the term they use for eating lots of free foods.
And I make my currys with a tin of tomatoes. Couldn't be easier. Just brown off the meat, onions and spices, add the tomatoes and any other veg (lentils are good and make it nice and thick) and simmer for about 40 minutes to cook it all out

I also love the mushy pea curry
I Tim toms, 1 tin baked beans, one tin mushy peas, but you could use processed if you can find them, add whichever curry powder you fancy, blend, and hey presto, curry sauce, then just add whatever you fancy
If you're not keen on veg, cook them in it before blitzing, and you won't even know they're there

There are a few variations of the 'chip shop curry sauce' but they all include mushy peas lol

By the way, wholmeal pasta, you can have 35g (dried weight) as your B choice
