Porridge

Hi all,

New to this forum (and SW) so apologies if this is in the wrong place?!

But confused about a/b choices. I want to have porridge (oatso simple which I was surprised to see as b choice?) for breakfast. So does the porridge and the milk count as b choice or do you have to use the milk from your a choice to make it? Hope this makes sense! Thanks

Hello, welcome to social slimmers and SW!

You are correct with your porridge being your B choice, but your milk is your A allowance, regardless of how you have it (milk in porridge, a glass of milk, cheese on a potato, etc.)
I've known of a lot of people who make their porridge with water rather that milk to save their A allowance for lunch or something. Personally, I don't like it with water, I have to use milk!

Be aware that there are only certain Oats So Simple porridges on your B list which are the multigrain ones, or the Big Bowl Original 39g sachet. The others don't contain enough fibre to count as your B choice.

Don't worry, SW takes some getting used to initially, so feel free to ask anything you want, even if you think it sounds silly... I pestered my first consultant something rotten trying to figure it all out

Annoyingly, those are 6.5 syns per 36g sachet
Also, the pots that you just add water to are really high (Golden Syrup is 10 syns) which is even more annoying because they're so amazingly convenient!

I used to have these at work religiously in the winter as so convenient as you say! Gutted the sachets are so high too, it's my first proper day at it and I've already gone wrong

It's a learning curve Don't let it get to you, there's so much to take in at first, it takes a couple of weeks to get it right.

I would defo suggest that once you get your access to the SW website, look up your favourite foods on the Syns Online section and see what the syns are like. At least you know what you'd be looking at if you had whatever that food is.
(This is me assuming that you've been to a group and signed up that is )
