Slimming world - weight loss for IVF

Hello everyone,

I've just signed up so hope I'm posting in the right place!

I have recently gone through IVF in October which sadly ended in a chemical pregnancy. I'd like to loose some weight before going through IVF again. I'm not overweight however could loose around a atone to be at a healthy weight and I feel like it'd make me feel better going through IVF knowing that I've done something which will hopefully help me get a positive result.

I'm just looking for some slimming world tips. Should I join a group or do you think it's manageable doing it alone? I have to be honest my motivation is poor but I think it's because I don't have anyone to do this with.

Any tips would be appreciate. Thanks

Welcome to Social Slimmers

Personally, I like going to a group, but I've been going for a while and I know lots of people so it's very friendly.
I know there's several people on here who follow it themselves at home, but the majority (as far as I am aware) have attended a group at some stage, even if it was to get the literature and not attend again. Or even signed up online.
Some people get their motivation and inspiration from others in the group, lots of ideas for meals get banded about, plus there are hints and tips for sticking to plan during the week.

In my group, we've had someone in a very similar situation to you and she's just become pregnant from her IVF treatment (I say just, she's about 6 months pregnant! ) Obviously everyone's bodies are different, but she lost 3.5 stone I think she reached before falling pregnant. But she didn't attempt the IVF again until she'd lost a certain amount of weight, personal preference mostly.

We are always more than happy to answer any questions you have about the plan, whether you decide to go it alone or find a local group
Ask away, and best of luck!

Thanks for your reply. That makes sense joining a group and I think it probably would benefit me being part of a group, especially for starting out and getting used to the diet.

That's lovely to hear. I like to hear positive IVF stories 😊

I'm thinking of joining after the new year as I think doing it now will be almost impossible. It'll only give me around 6 weeks to loose a stone which is hopefully doable?!

I plan on sticking with it throughout treatment too but would ideally like to loose the stone before I start 😊 xxx

That's fair enough, and most people will have the same thoughts as you about waiting until after Christmas to join.

If you want to make a start on something in the meantime, I would make a suggestion of drink plenty of fluids, make sure you're eating plenty of fruit & veg, eat filling foods like meat and eggs, and make sure you eat pasta, rice and potatoes in moderation. I.e. Measured portions.

Thank you for that information. That's great 😀

I will try that before I join a class. Give myself a little headstart xxx
