2nd Time Lucky?

Hi All,

I am acting on the advice of another member and starting a diary on here as something to keep track of my 2nd journey through Slimming World.

I've just come back to Slimming World after 18 months. When I started the first time round I was 16 stone 3 and ended on 12 stone 13. My consultant was amazing and gave me the confidence to think I could go it alone. At the time I believed I was in control and spending 5 of 7 evenings in the gym. About 8 months ago I ended my gym membership (financial reasons) and then the complacency slipped in of thinking it didn't matter what I ate as long as I wasn't as big as I was.

I discovered on weighing at my first meeting I have re-gained a stone since leaving Slimming World the first time and that makes me feel like the first time was a complete waste. So I have set my target to get down to 12 stone and then plan to move it further (hopefully). I'm not going to leave my group until I have my target firmly in my hand.

First day was a bit rough (51 Syns!!!) as I was still using what I had in my kitchen and I had no idea how many syns we're in non low sugar squash and vegetable oil! Then last night I went to the supermarket to stock up and am all set.

I started this morning with my healthy extras both in 1 go (2 slices of wholemeal bread with low fat butter and marmite and my 300ml lactose free milk split between coffee and a glass. In addition to home made soup I also bought various veggie bits to have at work but I have felt hungry parts of today. Not sure if it my body getting used to it or I should pack more tomorrow?

Liquid wise I go through 3 x 75cl bottles of water and 3 x MASSIVE mug of peppermint tea so I don't think its a hydration issue.

I am persevering until I get home and can make up my dinner but I would appreciate advice on how to stay sedated at work or if this feeling will go away?

Anyway, thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Rachel

Firstly, well done for losing what you have so far, and keeping so much weight off between memberships
And also for getting back into a group. There are so many people who have the same thoughts you've just mentioned, but then don't actually go back to a group, so well done for having the courage to walk back into a group
(I hope I don't sound patronising with those comments, I don't mean them to be if they sound that way )

It could be your body getting used to the change in diet, but from what I can see, you don't seem to have much protein in your meals?
Adding protein will help keep you filled for longer - so maybe add some eggs to your toast in a morning, or pick up some Arla Protein yogurts (or the much cheaper Lidl version for about 39p from what I saw the other day!) and have that with some fruit?
Or for your lunches, add something with a P next to it from your book.

If you can add some P foods to each meal, or as many meals as possible, you're less likely to feel hungry between them

Hi,

Thanks Sarah for your advice (didn't sound patronising at all).

I add meat to my evening meal and as part of my lunch take shredded ham to work but maybe need to look into something more. Issues with breakfast is I already have to get up at 6 so I am fed and vaguely awake to start my cycle to work at 7 so cooking at that hour is an issue.

I will look into the protein yogurts and see what else I can do to add more P into my life.

Feeling less hungry today as have added a Mug Shot and a pudding of 1 meringue nest (2.5 syns) with fresh raspberries and a muller light yogurt so am feeling a little better. It has only been two days so I am possibly being a little over ambitious to think it would all be rainbows this soon.

Am going to keep going and just hope it pays off come next Monday (weigh in day).

Thanks again for input and feel free to keep it coming.

Rachel

Hi All,

Thought this was particularly significant given I have had several moments of just feeling HUGE over the last few days. I haven't let it affect me and synned stupidly but its one of those feelings that makes you want to give up and just assume weigh in is going to be lousy.

However, on opening Facebook this morning it shared a memory from three years ago of my first Slimming World weight loss so I thought I would share it with you.

Feeling so much more positive having seen it.

:-)

It's great to have some inspiration whether it's a piece of clothing, or a photo like you've got above. It can help keep us motivated when we feel down

I think everyone feels bloated within the first couple of weeks of SW, and I remember my consultant telling someone it's because we increase the fibrous veggies etc. Into out diets so again, it's down to that I think.

Best of luck for the weekend, and hopefully you feel better about the plan once you get your head back around it

Hi All,

It's been a busy weekend but I am feeling so much better about food now. My diet hasn't felt so balanced in a while and I am not as tired as I used to be.

Really hope this produces a positive result at weigh in (although I suspect I may be disappointed). Just feel really big again today :-( Once again I'm not letting it affect my eating habits but I can't help but feel it is going to affect the numbers.

I am not going to give up after one bad week but as we all know, a bad week can hit hard (particularly this early in the process I would suppose).

Thoughts?

I went into WI the other week feeling huge and lost 1.5lbs, so you never know!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you though

I'm glad you are feeling better about the plan overall, and that you aren't feeling as tired

Did you take your measurements when you started SW? If you didn't might be worth doing them soon, and then if you do get a bad week on the scales, hopefully your measurements have gone down
It's also just a nice thing to see every few weeks

Hi,

No I haven't taken my measurements but then that's probably because I don't own a tape measure.

Well I will know by tonight so we will just have to see.

If you can't find a tape measure in a pound shop somewhere, keep an eye out in the Christmas crackers this year, I'm sure that's where I got mine from

Hope WI went well!

Hi,

Half pound on which was a massive deflation after how hard I've tried but given I knew when I walked in a I was on * week I am hoping that has contributed. I did not let it drive me to hefty synning though. I am in fact taking part in my consultants challenge this week of less than 10 syns a day.

Draw a line under it and focus on next week.

:-)
