It didn't go well. I had a pastry and a slice of cake all before 11am .... I now have watermelon and raspberries for lunch, in the hope that I'm gonna counteract what syns I've just inhaled😂

Hi Megan,

I am fairly new to SW and went on my own too.

I wonder if it would be worth persevering with the group that is nearest you?

Maybe if you gave it a couple of weeks and stayed for the group meeting you might find you fit in okay?

Maybe the consultant was distracted or under some sort of pressure on your first visit?

I know from going in alone and staying for the meetings, I find it great now.

Yeah I know what you mean, but it's a large group. It's bigger than a classroom, and the consultant didn't seem to great at all. Not too sure what I'm gonna do but to be honest I'll probably just go to get weighed and get the support from forums and Instagram

Sounds difficult Megan but maybe just give it one go. You never really know. And as you say, you always have the support here :-)

Sorry you didn't get the support you needed. In the past I have been to a number of groups, some consultants I just didn't understand why they did the job (other than the money!) They just didn't seem interested!
The group I attend now though is fantastic, our consultant is also on her own SW journey having lost and gained, so understands us all when the going gets tough.
She keeps an eye on the door for any new faces coming in, I do the pay desk for her so if she she is busy with something else I always greet them with a smile and a welcome, sit them in the new member area and give them a pack and the form to complete. Then advise that the consultant will be over shortly. The great thing with our group is that if I were busy too, the closest person to the door just goes and says hello and makes them feel welcome. I pray that our consultant never stops doing SW as I don't think she could be replaced!!
Sorry that this isn't helping you in Liverpool, but there are lovely groups out there, you just have to hunt them out!

Lelly is right - there are some fab SW groups out there. Mine is alot like Lelly's, and like Lelly I'm on the Social Team (pay station)
Our consultant stands close to the door (without playing bouncer ) and welcomes everyone in, especially any new members.

But I've also had a consultant who wasn't the same way inclined and didn't react the same way, so I've seen both sides to it.

Hopefully you've either found a new group, or the original one wasn't as bad the sencond time round?

I did SW a few years ago like you Megan the class was huge. I felt lost and I went for a few times but the consultant just did her job but no personal pleasantries etc. Now I am doing it online but it would be nice to find a small friendly group. I am so pleased to have found this site though as you are all so nice and supportive.

I have found that both consultants ive had in the past arent very helpful, even when i was really struggling i had no support but ones that were losing weight got all the support they wanted. Ive quit going to group and now do an online memebership

I joined WW some few years back and found that not only did those there not respond to anything I tried to talk to them about but the consultant completely ignored me and during the time she talked to the class she spoke to everyone in turn except me!.. I was 78 at the time so the oldest there but that should not have made any difference IMO!

I complained to the area manager who referred me to a different group but it was evident that she was annoyed at my being there so I left and have never been back. Personally I think that the majority do the job for the money and nothing else ..(apart from the freebies no doubt!)
