Attend group or do with support online

Dear all

I am going to try slimming world diet. Have 2.5 stone to lose. Wondered if it is easier to do going to group or getting support on this website. I have books from 6 mthe ago.

Personally I like the group each week. I've been there for a while and I've got a great group of friends there too, I really enjoy it. Plus it helps keep me more accountable for what I do each week lol
I did WW online years ago and I never got anywhere with it.
For me, going to a group each week is a better choice

I'm a group member and love it. I go to a smaller group and know all the people there now. Everyone is welcomed and the odd week I've missed I've had FB support from friends / members via pm etc checking i'm ok and we keep in touch through the week sometimes too.

thank you

Dear all

Thank you for your supporting messages. I am away working most of week but will join group next week. Was okay yesterday until tea time and then so tired ended up eating takeaway. Not good Soo back to basics today. Must find some willpower any tips?

Hope all goes well everyone else

For me I keep a good stock of fruit handy so that I don't get too hungry.
But I'd also suggest batch cooking and freezing some meals so that for those days where you are too tired to start making something from scratch, you can zap a freezer meal in minutes

Dear Sarah

Thank you for the advice. I do intend to do these things but they go out of the window when I am sobtired after work.

I just do SW online and I think it's great. I didn't want to do the group thing and I have a son with special needs so it's tricky going out.

I'd always suggest group, it's more incentive that you have to get weighed every week, especially if you can get friends or family to go with you. I personally go with 4 colleagues and we support each other at work as well as at group!

I can always understand if you have restrictions to your diary that means you can't get to a group, but if so you have to make sure you get on those scales once a week!!!

Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress! We are all here to support each other

I started out going to group, but must have found one of the only groups where I wasn't really made to feel welcome, I didn't feel like I had a whole lot of support either. It is important to have support from somewhere though, and if you like the accountability and routine of a weekly weigh in at a set time, then the group would be a good route for you. I just do it from home now, as I sort of begrudged paying the £5 a week, as I wasn't staying for the meeting so I weigh myself at home every week at the same time as I would have been at SW.
