Online Syn Calculator

Does anyone else find Slimming World's online syns calculator a nightmare. The search feature rarely finds what I'm looking for and always throws in a list of things that are nothing like what I typed in.

When if doesn't find what you want it it says "More than 30 results found. Narrow it down using additional keywords." but when you add more keywords it just finds more irreverent stuff.

It's also a pain if I want to pull up a list of things in a range to see which is the least syns, for example 'Asda Chosen by You yogurts', and you get 1 result of 'Asda Chosen by You Greek Style Yogurt with Honey' plus 29 results of cheese etc.

Anyone else pull their hair out with it?

I've had the same issue with searching for a particular thing using Syns online. You can't always get more specific than you've already been!
But in those cases, you might be better using the actual calculator rather than the Syns online database. Especially if you've got the packaging. Or if not, if it's something from Asda or Tesco etc. you can calculate the values for yourself. That's what I end up doing lol

I've tried inputting the values but I can't work out the free food allowance bit. Sometimes more than one ingredients has a free value. A few times I've not been able to find something and I've used the nutritional values to work it out, but later I've managed to find it in the database and the two syn values are different :s

Think I would find it easier to stick to sw if it didn't take so much time and effort finding syn values.

With the free food in the calculator, you pick the very first ingredient. If it isn't free, there isn't a free food. But if it's got chicken/potato/pasta/etc. listed, then that's your free food

I've noticed that they don't always have the name of the product exactly as it is on the box, it's really annoying. That's why I prefer using the big directory of syn values book that you can buy in the Slimming World club, think it's around £7.50.

It means I can skim through all the items from that shop/brand to see if they've listed it under a slightly different name. I find it easier than trying to use the online version, especially when standing in a supermarket.

Hmmm I think I should have ordered that when I signed up online. It was only £5 extra for two books but thought the online search would work

Can you not order the books online?
Have you got a friend that does to a class that you can ask to pick up a book for you?
