Non-Scale Victories

I apologise if this has been done already, but I remember from Minimins we had a thread of NSVs - Non Scale Victories.

This can be anything from clothes fitting more loosely, a compliment from a friend/coworker, or something completely unrelated to weight loss.

A good space for us to share happiness that isn't related to those numbers on the scales!

Great idea for a thread.

My non-scale victory recently is actually being able to (and even inclined to) go for a ride on my bike.

I hadn't really ridden a bike since I was a school kid...

...but since losing over 6 stone so far with SW, I'm actually really enjoying riding my bike.

In fact, in the last week, I've ridden almost 20 miles! One 8.5 mile ride last Wednesday, then another 5 miles last Sunday, and today I did another 6 miles.

My NSV is due to the people I work with. I think they were either very cautious to say anything about my weightloss as I started SW when my daughter was 6 months old and they didn't know if it was "baby weight" coming off or they really haven't notice until now, but people are starting to notice how much I've lost and be really complimentary (which is nice when you honestly can't see the weight loss yourself!)

It's always around the 3 stone mark people start commenting isn't it Spoony! No matter what diet I've done or who I've interacted with, that's the magic number.

My NSV was losing my 3.5lb on my first week and finding it had mostly come off my waist where I lost 3 inches too!

..NSV....when I was about 3 to 4st down, I noticed I could pull the plug whilst still in the bath and, when I stood up, there wasn't a mini-tsunami of water wedged behind my bum!

This has made me proper giggle!

I know exactly what you mean...I don't often bath (not that I'm dirty....I just prefer showers )...but on the odd occasion I did before SW, the exact same thing would happen. I used to call them tidal waves....but I love the tsunami description!

I have to confess, I don't think I've indulged in a bath since I lost weight. Might have to try it out just to see if I'm still 'mini-tsunami' sized or not!

Haha looby, go for it. I'm sure you'll enjoy the lack of whooshing sound as there's no tell-tale tidal wave! It's the little things!

It's a small victory but kind of a big one for me at the same time! I started the Couch to 5k programme on Tuesday, and this is the first time I've done exercise in public for about 7 years! I'm very self conscious, so I still go at quiet times, but it feels good to be doing something to improve my fitness. Start day 3 of week one tonight!

The big victory will be at the end of the 9 weeks and hopefully being able to run 5k!

oh wow that's amazing, well done Matt! It's so rewarding when you make that commitment

I've noticed a lot more energy than usual this week, and found it a lot easier to wake up in the mornings. I went for a long walk today and really enjoyed it.
