Advice please

I have been a sw member since 26November 2014 & have lost 1st 61/2 lbs & aiming to lose 2stone 2lbs in total . My weight loss is really slow 1/2 to 1lb a week . I am always " on plan" have an average of 10syns per day . Walk 25 miles weekly , interval run 6k twice a week & roller blade ( up to my gold body magic award) can anyone explain why its so slow when I listen to other women in class who regularly are off plan or do no exercise yrt have 2lb + weekly losses. Wonder if theres something im doing wrong ... any ideas please ?

Hi Marinapc, well done on what you have achieved so far. The exercise part especially. I am still struggling to get started with mine. We see a lot of posts on here with people going through what you have described. One of the Nutritionist / fitness people will no doubt be able to explain the science part of it but it is sometimes the case that the person is under eating calorie wise and this is slowing the metabolism from processing body fat. Thankfully as you are doing slimming world adding few extra syn free pieces of fruit a day usually fixes it. Might be worth giving it a go for 3 or 4 days see if it helps. Good luck.

Thanks Paul , other people have said that to me ... think it just doesnt compute in my brain ... will try it this week tho and let u know if it works with regard to yr exercise thinking about doing it is so much sorse than actually getting out there n u always feel so much better for doing it . Try downloading something like runkeeper to track yr activity as it reminds u to go out & Do it ! Alternatively invest in a fitbit as it monitors your food & activities my friend & husband both have them & weight falling off them both ... good luck

It might be worth asking your consultant for a SAS log? sometimes things creep in and you don't realise. I had a gain of 3lb and did a log and it was because I wasn't weighing things, or wasn't checking the syn value of things properly. I lost 4lb the week I did it.

My weight lost has always been 1.5 - 2lb per week. I took me from November to April to lose 2stone 0.5lb.

Firstly welcome to the forum

Sometimes as we get to our target weight loss slows down especially if you are a good size/BMI/etc

1-2lbs a week is normal and healthy but if concerned you should speak to your group consultant sometimes more or less syns work for different people.

One thing I do not agree on with SW is the free pasta, grains and potatoes... try and eat these in moderation (in my opinion).

Let us know how you get on

Your toning up so may notice more of a difference in measurement rather than weight loss.
And are they off plan or do they just say that?

There is NOTHING more annoying/gutting than when you have been 'good' all week and get slapped with a gain I recon - such a kick in the teeth.

It is the hardest thing I know, but you just have to remember that now more than ever the key is to keep calm and carry on. Not meaning to be crude, but a big poo can weigh 1lb (my doctor said!) and a pint of fluid (easily in your bladder) can weigh 1/2lb too.

One snapshot in the week really doesn't reflect what your progress is - over the course of a month it all evens out.

Don't mean to sound trite - I know exactly how you feel and shall be taking my own medicine in the weeks to come, I am sure!!!

Sometimes the loss shows the following week... it might sound odd, but I'm one of those people that has a 'delay' in losses/gains showing. I can be way over syns one week, but have a loss the weigh in straight after, but it usually shows up on the weigh in after, even if I've been really good (I hope that makes sense to someone other than me lol)

But like other said, you could lose the inches rather than the weight... do any clothes feel looser?
And like Wobbles said, the pasta/rice/potatoes should be eaten in moderation. Yes they are free and we don't have to weigh them, but eating buckets of them everyday won't be ideal, they're really stodgy foods.
Try changing your synned foods a bit too, I've been told that a few times. Your body can get used to processing the same foods, so throw something different in there to make your body work a bit more
