New SP plan

Hi All, I am brand new to the forum but been following slimming world for about 3 months now. Been trying the SP plan this last couple days but finding it really restrictive and not very family friendly. The reason I like EE is that it was family friendly and we could all eat the same things, but without potatoes, pasta or rice I don't see how you can make family meals and it makes me feel like I'm missing out. Just wondering how others are finding it?

Hi Dolphin mummy Welcome to the forum

What is the SP plan?

I tried the EE plan at home for a while as I never went to the groups and I found it very family friendly. Potatoes, pasta etc are Syn free aren't they? or have I remembered that wrong?

Maybe I'm reading your post wrong, are potatoes, pasta and rice syned on the SP Plan?

It's just done out in the new books this month. Basically it's to give you a boost. S stands for speed foods (basically most fruits send veg) and p stands for protein (meats, eggs, beans etc). The idea is to have only S and P foods plus your HEalthy extras. If you are an online member it's all on the website.

My problem with it is it takes you away from 'normal' meals. I have 2 young girls and don't tell them I'm on a 'diet' and don't like them asking why I'm eating differently to everyone else.

Hi I am new to the forum but not to slimming world and have started SP. I love it! I tend to do SP on
Monday to Wednesday and the rest of the time I do the EE but wherever possible I concentrate on S and P foods and limit my portion of potato, pasta and rice. You can have 2 B choices on SP so it does make it easier. I have been doing SP for 10 days now but have my first weigh in tomorrow (couldn't get to group last week) so not sure what the effect is yet, but I feel really good

Oh I seen this in my magazine ... It's the Slimming World Super Powered Extra Easy Plan, it says 'power up your weight loss'.

So the SP plan is no pasta or potatoes? If so Slimsis' idea is good, you can adapt the plan around you and only dedicate x many days to it? I never liked all the EE 'free' foods, I constantly say it but I don't.

I stopped SW but I might look into this plan a little more myself and look in the magazines for some meal plans. Oooo that remind me... The slimming world magazine subscription actually has a free set of scales worth £37.99 and 7 issues for £16.50 delivered to your door compared to the £19.25 if you bought at the local shop.

Hi pamsslimming,

What did you SW leader say? Are you eating a lot of pasta and potatoes that they mark as 'free' by chance?

Thought this might help.

xtra Easy SP
50/50 of Speed & Protein foods.
1 HEA choice
2 HEB choices
Enjoy 5-15 syns a day

THE THREE STEPS ARE:

1. PICK YOUR FAVOURITE S AND P FOODS

Fill your plate at each mealtime with S and P foods, and also as snacks between your main meals.
At least half of your plate should be full of S foods.
The S symbols is mainly in the fruit and vegetable sections but does not include potatoes, sweet potatoes, parsnips, sweetcorn, mango, pineapple, kiwi, grapes or bananas.
The P symbols are in the fish, lean meats like beef, chicken, pork etc sections, along with eggs, beans, peas, pulses and vegetarian products such as Quorn and Tofu.
I have also noticed that low fat/free fat cottage cheese and Quark are also classed as P foods.

2. PICK YOUR HEALTHY EXTRAS

Choose one HEA and two HEB choices each day.
To speed up weight loss look out for the healthy extras with the S symbol.

3. ENJOY YOUR SYNS

Enjoy 5-15 Syns as usual!
If you want to occasionally eat something like "potatoes or a syn free yogurt" on Extra Easy SP this is okay to do and they are still classed as free food. But if you really want to boost your weight loss it is recommended that you stick to the S and P foods instead.

I am nearly through first try of the SP thing...finding it ok so far. Needed to do something...did EE to the letter last week and put on half a pound....I was more than gutted! I told my leader I was on medication and she annoyed me by saying that it wouldn't make any difference....well no, actually , it does, but wasn't going to have a row in the meeting! Anyway...definately feeling lighter on this, so will see what the scales say on Tuesday
