Is optimizing as easy as I think?

Hi I've been doing the old red & green days for 5 weeks and have lost 8lbs so I'm thrilled. I've been Reading about food optimizing but I dont know if I've " got " it. In a nut shell, are red & green days combined i.e I can have rice with chicken, 5% mince beef with jacket potato and use the free foods as before & just make sure i have 1/3 of my plate with veg when ever I can? I'm loathed to try in case I do it wrong
I'm loving the diet but wonder if I should just stay on the Red & green rather than risk it?
Sorry, I know its probably a big question, but I'd appreciate it if any one could give me a condensed lesson?
Thank you my friends.

Hi Jessie

Essentially, yes you've got it right, although we call it the Extra Easy plan.
Food Optimising is what you do on any of the plans, whether it's Red, Green or Extra Easy - it's just when you follow the plans

Extra Easy means that you can eat carbs and meat in the same meal - so you can have chilli & rice, chicken stir fry with noodles, bolognese with pasta or a jacket potato, etc.
And you don't have to measure them out at any point (I remember you had to measure any meat on a green day as your B choice, and carbs on a red day as a B choice) although I'll always advise to eat the pasta, rice, noodles, etc. and eat them in moderation.

The 1/3 of veg/fruit on a plate still applies too.

My advice would be that if the Red/Green days are working for you, stick with them.
However, if you want a change and you're missing having pasta with bolognese, etc. then give them a go. The worst that could happen is that you can't get your head around it properly, in which case you switch back I've seen plenty of people who have done red/green days for so many years, and they just can't get to grips with Extra Easy because they've been in one mindset for so long.

Does all that make sense?

Hi sarahc4536
Yes, that makes perfect sense, its more or less as I thought but Im not terribly confident yet & I'm comfortable with the red & green so I think I'll take your advise & stick with my green & red, for now at least! Its working a treat so I really didnt ought to rock the boat. I just wasn't sure I'd understood the EE, I'll have a rethink if I stall on my red & Green. Thanks as ever for great advise.
