The sandwich maker lives!

Hi! Totally random post but it's getting cold over here and sandwiches aren't doing it. Just remembered a sandwich maker I'd put in the back of a cupboard about 3 years ago. Woohoo! Totally forgot how nice toasties are. Ham, tomato and a cheese slice (I hexb, 0.5 hexa - no butter needed). So, just thinking about fillings now for red n green days.

Red: ham n toms, turkey n toms, chicken tikka n toms, sardines n toms?

Green: cheese n onion, cheese n toms

Err, anyone got any ideas?

Cheese and tuna, chicken and bacon, cheese and bacon, can you get baked beans over there?

Ooh cheese n tuna - oh yes! Yep baked beans everywhere - I was a bit dubious about them cos the maker is so tiny. The cheese slice melts everywhere and I have to scrape it up - possibly not very hygienic but it's mine. Mine I tell you - and I refuse to waste a splodge of it! Green day today so I had another one for lunch - cheese, toms n onion. So lovely but I could seriously eat 4 of them! x

I only really do EE days so I may be suggesting something implausible; but I love cheese, ham and pickle (1syn per tbsp) toasties

Has to be pizza toasty. Blend tomato with bit of basil or oregano or whatever green herb you like bit of garlic, tiny drop of oil and maybe pinch of sugar, if you want. Cook it out for few minutes in frying pan until thickens slightly ( otherwise too watery and soaks bread ) and let cool. Spread thinly on slightly buttered top and bottom slices. Add your cheese to bottom slice and whatever toppings you want to the top slice e.g. pepperoni or burgas maybe. Meld the two slices into a beautiful union. Toast and enjoy Its not slimming but it tastes great.

Oh Paul that sounds divine! I'll have to show my OH that one - he'll never complain about toasties again! [emoji23]

PaulB that sounds lovely! Tom puree (homemade so not as strong as shop bought), onion, garlic, chilli, ham n pineapple perhaps........going to have a go at this soon. EmiGem - my OH hates toasties from the sandwich maker but he's happy to toast them, put the filling in, then put them in the oven! The wholemeal bread here is so awful I can only eat it toasted lol! When you buy it it's already stale but that's how it's eaten. OH is pretty good at making bread - might bribe him to make me some! x

Catmad - men are so funny. OH is the same. He'll spend all the time in the world prepping bread to toast or grill and build a sandwich that way, but the second I whip out our toasty maker he screws his face up and suddenly fancies something completely different [emoji23] he's a chef, so I think he just likes to show off his talent and wants to make everything look like posh nosh [emoji23]
