Struggling to maintain!

Surprisingly it's not that I'm gaining! I hit 8st11 a few weeks back and decided it was too low and I gained back a few lbs and was 9st after Xmas, which tbh I prefered! So I hoped to stick there, but tone up some more.

I'm more active now cos I'm training for the big race, but I'm also eating more. I've been eating 2 "proper" meals a day and usually breakfast AND a glass of wine each night and snacked on chocolate and crisps, but I've lost 2lb in the last week

I'm not quite sure how it's happening with me eating so much rubbish, I'm guessing my body's working more efficiently or something? I'm not too bothered if it's just my body settling back down after Xmas, but I really don't want to lose much more than this! Does anyone have any ideas if there's any way I can stop losing bar eating constantly?!

It could be your body settling down after Christmas.
Also have you tried eating back the calories that you burn through exercise so that you don't end up with a calorie deficit at the end of the day?

I don't count calories any more, but am eating what I would think is plenty to cover the exercise! Yesterday I only ran for about 12 minutes, which won't have burnt that much; had pasta and roasted veg for lunch, huge veg/bean chilli and rice, milky way, bag of crisps, fudge bar and a glass of wine! And I still lost 1lb this morning! I might start counting again just to see what I'm eating in case there is a big deficit, but I've been Eating mainly home cooked food so it probably won't be accurate!

I think that with your all your weight loss and the increased exercise that you've reset your metabolism and you're burning off a lot more than you used to. I would expect to start seeing a gain with increased muscle mass though.

It's bizarre when you eat more yet continue to lose weight. I think you should count calories again, at least for a few days, and see what that data tells you. It sure sounds like your metabolism is higher now.

Twyla I was expecting to see a gain cos I do usually gain with exercise, at least for the first few days! I suppose maybe with me having more muscle now (I'm assuming I've built some in my legs seeing as I can run a lot further), that will have boosted my metabolism?

One of the kids has deleted my mfp app but a very quick google has shown that I ate over 700 calories just in rice yesterday and the chocolates and crisps probably added up to about 400, then a huge bowl of pasta and everything else I ate will have taken me over 2000 cal! I'll probably gain like half a stone tomorrow

I think I'll try loosely counting for the rest of the week and try and stay away from the scales!

Do you think with the extra running you maybe need to up your food intake, although healthy choices not bad? If you don't think you could do more food what about a good protein shake for running days, ones made up with milk though maybe? x

I think I might look into protein shakes, but I can't do milk based ones cos that much milk doesn't agree with me - I managed one day of slimfast a few years ago and had to get my mum to have the kids it made me that poorly

I ended up having chippy chips after my tea last night and still maintained today! I can afford to drop maybe another 5lbs, but after that I think I start dropping into underweight, which I really don't want to do! So I kinda want to stop it before I get to that stage. Shows how lazy I've been though if 20 mins running 3 times a week is making me lose weight at target

Slim fast is rotten lol (sorry slim fast )

I have one from Sainsburys but I don't like that either, best so far has been the celebrity slim active, says for 2 weeks while dieting comes with the 'no/very low carbs' rule but I don't use it as a diet iykwim? I'm buying it when the bank has recovered from Christmas and New Year!

I'll have a ganders at celebrity slim when I go to superdrug next! The main problem is a lot of protein shakes aren't veggie, but I'm sure I can find something!
