New her but sadly not new to dieting...

....or I should say, not new to starting yet another diet!
I am now 56 years of age and have beaten myself up about my weight since my early thirties. I keep losing and gaining back the same one and half to two stone and to be honest it is driving me mad.
I have wasted hundreds of pounds joint SW and WW but not anymore. This time I plan to keep a food diary and cut out all rubbish. I loathe cooking but I do it because I have to. My down fall is sweets and cake and I would have a much easier time avoiding them completely if my husband didn't share the same weakness.
So, I start yet another diet today. I go on holiday in about seven weeks time and I would love to have a lost a stone by then.
Wish me Luck!

Rachael.

Hi Rachael

Welcome to Social Slimmers

Can hubby maybe be convinced to cut down on the sweet stuff to support you? I stopped buying the stuff personally ... a tough **** situation

How are you getting on so far?

Thank you both for asking.
To be brutally honest, I have not done anything towards losing weight.
I find it nigh on impossible with my husband at home nearly all the time. We went away for four days, three nights, this last week in our small motorhome and I had taken grilled chicken, brown pasta and tomatoes with me and nothing sweet (other than fat free fruit yogurts) BUT I have eaten a Magnum, a Pain au Chocolat, Rocky Road something or other, fruit pastilles and now I feel even worse about myself.
I was bought a donut which I refused to eat and so he ate two.
I guess I need to draw yet another line in the sand and step over it yet again!

It's so easy to fall into those situations especially when away ...

Have you tried calorie counting?

That NO becomes easier when you start seeing the results

I haven't tried calorie counting but maybe that is something I should look at.
I agree that once I see a loss it gets easier. Right now I need to " get started". I keep hearing myself say that I need to lose weight but at the same time I hear myself ask why do I need to lose weight? I am my own worst enemy, always have been.

I think we have to just accept we've indulged and move on. Beating myself up makes me feel like I've failed and I want more because what's the point? But If I let go I just move on, I don't do it every day.

The beginning is always the biggest battle and getting back on track is harder when we give ourselves a hard time is what I am trying to say.

You will find it, keep going

I have started on 16:8 intermittent fasting this week and have also started to walk regularly most days... being honest there, I want to say every day but it is more like five out of seven. I have yet to weigh myself but I have more energy, less sugar cravings (if any) and feel great.
Hopefully the weight will start to come off but even if it doesn't (for a while) I will be happy that I am not craving sugar all the time.
