28 stone newbie. After some helpful advice!

Hi there. So I'm a 28 year old, and I weight 28 stone. I'm currently playing pokemon go and it's got me moving much more and being more active.

I'm currently stuck on what my plan should be, most dietary advice is for the "few pounds to lose" category, and mine needs a much longer term approach. Firstly, how much food and calories should I be consuming? Currently I'd say I'm eating around 1500 calories a day, and am walking for maybe only 30mins a day currently. Should I push my body further? Should I eat less or even more because of my size?

I'm also getting conflicted with the fat vs carbs situation. Generally I'm a savoury eater and I eat lots of meat. Not a fan of fatty meat so that's fine, and generally my cards come from a bit of pasta and bread. Also is there a limit to how much fruit I should eat? I'm currently eating a few bananas each day as they seem to fill me up and I love em (they are ripe ones however).

With water, I need to drink unspeakable amounts apparently because of my weight, is this true?

Just taking my first few steps, I'm not new to dieting but I really want to try and help myself this time. I'm sick of worrying about sitting on chairs in public places

Hi john, welcome to social Slimmers

I really wish I could help, but I have absolutely no experience when it comes to calorie counting. I follow Slimming World and we don't count calories with it. We basically divide our plates into 3 - 1/3 gets filled with 'speed' food (fruit & veg - not counting bananas, potatoes, parsnips, cherries, blueberries) 1/3 gets filled with protein (most meat/fish/beans/pulses/eggs/low fat cottage cheese) and the final 1/3 filled with carbs (potatoes, rice, pasta, non-speed veg/fruit)
We also have a daily allowance of fibre and dairy which they advise to use and something called 'Syns' which can be used for treats or sauces with meals, etc.

With regards to water, I know everyone should drink at least 2 litres a day, but I don't know anything about it being a larger amount dependant on how much a person weighs..?

I'm really sorry I'm of absolutely no use!
I wish you all the best and that you find a plan that suits you.

I'm not so much into calorie counting. I know slimming world well, but for some reason it just never worked well for me. After a week of losing literally nothing I gave up out of frustration. You'd think the weight would fly off me!
