Hiya Social Slimmers,

It's so nice to see that there are supportive online communities for loosing weight, I have always kept my attempts to myself and i think it may have been where I have failed in the past!

I have gained a lot of weight in the last 3 years partly as a side effect of starting university and in the last year after loosing my mum suddenly. The anniversary of her passing is coming up very soon and I feel that it is time to get my life back on track with a healthy lifestyle change. I have suffered with a bit of anxiety and depression after the greif however now that I am on top of that I think it is just my body and poor fitness that is getting me down.

My weight sounds low at 129lbs however i am short with a small frame (and no boobs!) so about 110 of those pounds are on my bottom and tummy ! Im looking to shed about 15-20lbs using calorie tracking with the MyFitnessPal app and improve my fitness levels by running and walking. I dont want to be too skinny, I just want to feel good in my old clothes again!

I hope I can turn to social slimmers for encouragement and will power when I am craving sugar and also share and learn new recipes as I love cooking and baking!

Welcome to Social Slimmers. Sorry to hear about your Mum

You know when it's time to give yourself a wobble, I never thought I'd get into exercise but from someone who suffers depression and anxiety I can honestly say it's the best natural medicine out there, I wi sh I'd started sooner. I actually find myself a little down when I stop/take a break.

Good luck with the walking/running you can do it!
