Won't fasting put your body into starvation mode and cause a weight gain when you get back to eating? This happens in "yo yo dieting". You should still eat, just eat less and move more. I'm trying to not fast or starve myself because the last thing I want is the weight to come back in double. I've seen it happen to people I know.
I am going to measure my waist line each month. As far as ideal waist line, I don't know I've never been big on numbers, I don't even watch pounds(I look at inches lost instead).
I want to look skinny, and fit. I want there to be a visible difference. If I look fit and slim, I don't care what the scale says, and if I can fit into small clothes I don't care about the exact waist measurements. I know I won't be able to be the smallest in the world so who cares as long as the weight leaves, stays gone and I'm able to be fit and healthy.

Am personally leaning towards fasting being one of the most life changing tools available. I know that the body responds to periods of food deprivation by storing more fat as soon as food is available. I've read research, "The Fat Switch", that gives great insight to how extreme deprivation can cause genetic changes that leads to obesity. By activating a kind of dormant hibernation gene that programs us to store, store, store. Including various ideas for how to deactivate the gene. ( Pretty good read ). The sad fact is that most people who lose weight by just reducing calories will regain the weight plus more over a period of 5 years. ( Cant remember where came across that but it is quoted a lot across weight loss material that's not interested in selling a diet ). Then there's the impact on muscle and the knock on to slowing metabolism etc...
So why fast? First it has been used in human culture throughout recorded history to prepare for 'change' as part of many spiritual ceremonies etc. Makes me wonder why? What use can it be if most of what we know says don't do it? Mention the word 'detox' to a scientist and they will just pat you on the head. Then in a voice usually reserved for small children explain it dosn't exist, like the tooth fairy. ( Spoiler Alert - sorry kids ). So whats going on? Why so prevalent throughout history? To those who have fasted and know the sense of well being and restoration it brings there has to be a reason. The most often quoted is you are not putting all that processed food like junk in you body for a few days and its is recovering. However taking the history of fasting into consideration that explanation isn't good enough. It seems that the simple answer lies in the composition of stomach bacteria.
Many years ago investigation into 'spiritual people' who did not decay after death found that in the cases that were investigated the people prepared for death by fasting. This killed off the bacteria in the gut and stopped the body from decaying. So what use is that? Well modern research into diabetes has shown that the condition can be improved by killing off the patients existing stomach bacteria and replacing them with those from a health person. It seems that the bacteria have a massive impact on how food is digested and what food we crave. The bacteria in the guts of most modern people fed on high calorie, chemically preserved food must be completely different from our ancestors with there more natural foods. I think this explains why diets like Paleo have some basis in working by helping our more natural digestion slowly emerge. So the question must be : What if I killed off most my sugar hungry fat storing gut bacteria then started eating healthy? Maybe even added some good gut bacteria to kick start a new eating plan. For me it seems a path worth exploring. I've done anti Candida diets in the past short term and know what impact they have on food cravings. Armed with a new set of gut bacteria and being more informed on food choices sounds like it might just work. Gotta be worth a try?
If you have read this far thanks these are just my opinions and are not claimed to be absolute facts. The more I learn the more I realise we don't really know much for certain. Especially in an industry where money is involved and people are saying "Believe in me. My system can save you. Just send £x a month or buy my great new book stick thin in 10 ten seconds a day." Frustrates me sooo much I want to wee. I've spent thousands of pounds and done hundreds of systems and am fatter than ever. Anyhoo, lots of love and good luck with your own journeys.

Some people fast as a way to lose weight. Others fast to try to detox their bodies, or for religious reasons.
If you’re fasting to lose weight, you may want to reconsider. The weight loss may not last after you finish fasting.
If your goal is to detox your body, you should know that there’s no proof that it works. Your body naturally detoxes itself.
Fasting diets aren’t all the same. Some allow only liquids like water, juice, or tea. Others cut calories drastically, but don’t completely ban food. And on some plans, you fast every other day.

Fasting does not help you to loose weight. But the fact is when you start fasting, your body goes into conservation mode, burning calories more slowly and it also affects your body system and drops down your energy level.

Fasting won't help you lose weight. Instead of having a heavy meal, take 4-5 small meals that will be beneficial.
