What is going so wrong?

Hi all,

So I'm stuck in a real rut and have no idea how to climb out.. I need help!

I'm in my late 30s, just shy of 20 stone (280lbs) and have been diagnosed with Coeliacs disease for about 8 years. I was hoping the disease was the cause and reason behind my ongoing weight battle but nothing has changed.

I'm a big guy anyway, muscular and broad and just over 6ft tall and carry the extra weight pretty well. My ideal weight for my build is probably around 180lbs so my goal is to loose 100lbs..

My problem is that no matter what I do, I'm always 280lbs and have been for about 12 years. I love food and felt absolutely cheated when I found out I would need to be gluten free for the rest of my life and went on a bit of a blender on gluten free substitutes - this didn't put any weight on but obviously I didn't lose any as these subs are really not good for you. I've started to feel physically unwell for a couple of years and have been trying incredibly hard and have probably lost about 5lbs!

Regular diet example: full fat Greek yogurt for breakfast (as low fat is evil and full of sugar) with nuts, raisins, seeds, sometimes boiled eggs. Mixed bean salad or quinoa or lentil and bean salad with tuna, chicken or chickpea falafel for lunch. Meat, veg and carb substitute like cauliflower rice and carrot spaghetti for dinner. I like to have at least an apple, banana and a couple of satsumas or grapes, melon or berries each day too as I regularly feel a scurvy coming on. I also like corn thins or rice cakes which I might snack on a couple when I get in from work and i love coffee hut can only drink 2 - 3 cups a day without getting an upset stomach.

Regular exercise: I jog 1 mile 3 - 4 times a week and have been for half a year - this is not getting any easier, I'm not getting better at distance and the shin splints are a way of life now .. I play squash a couple of times a month and workout at home some evenings when I'm not able to get out and jog. I did cycle 10k every night on exercise bike for about a year until I gave up because I wasn't seeing results - jogging is way more immediately extreme on the body.

So what gives? I used to eat gluten free pasta, rice or potato with every meal and big portions with cheese and sides and never put weight on. Now I've been massively restricting that intake for a couple of years and working harder than ever and I'm not seeing any results.

My main goal is to feel better before losing weight but I still get out of breath walking up a couple of flights of stairs which seems ridiculous.

I'm now starting to have the odd day where I'm done with it and revert to an old eating habit which makes me feel terrible but doesn't actually affect my weight. These are few and far between and I feel that after the restrictions I've put on my life over the last two years well F*** it basically

So what is so wrong with me, my body, my diet? I've been to the doctor and have regular blood tests anyway but have basically been told it's a mystery..

Thanks for reading.
