Calcium is very important to body. Our hearts and muscles, as well as our bones, depend on an adequate amount of calcium to function properly. It is possible to overdo it with calcium though so be careful to monitor your intake.

Interesting ...

Calcium helps boost our ability to burn fat, prevents fat storage and adds to feelings of satiety. Over 20 recent studies show that milk products contribute to weight loss. People who get too little calcium typically have more body fat and higher bad cholesterol than those who consume recommended daily amounts or greater.

A Université Laval Faculty of Medicine team found that obese women who boosted their calcium to 200 mg more than the recommended amount, and who had been calcium deficient, lost nearly 6 kg of weight during 15 weeks. This is a measurable increase in weight loss compared with the 1 kg loss for the control group.

I haven't heard about the calcium supplements but I did read some research once that said it was proven that people who ate more calcium such as yoghurt lost more weight than the women who didn't.
