Crisps are my downfall!
We went to the pub today, as it was lovely and warm, but we went before we had lunch and I therefore couldn't resist having a packet of crisps with my ice cold pint of cider! Luckily, I managed to resist the lure of the pork scratchings, but only just!

Crisps are my major downfall! I usually try and make sure I don't buy them, cos I could happily sit and eats full multipack I usually restrict myself to 2packets in a go though

What are pork scratchings? Is that anything like the pork rinds found in the US? Once you said "ice cold pint of cider" I could have been derailed right there. Oh my, I was already picturing the condensation on the glass and my mouth was watering!

I think pork scratchings and rinds are pretty much the same thing! Like the skin/fat type stuff fried? I could just drink a nice cold alcoholic beverage! Well, I couldn't, it's 7am but I'm now picturing the wine glass with condensation

Normally I'm a crisp snob and only eat the hand made or Kettle chips variety, but Walker's deep ridged, flame grilled steak crisps taste so good! Park scratchings are indeed the crispy part of the roasted pork joint and widely available in bags here. I love them! (I eat them as a treat now.)

Oh, pork scratchings! Takes me back to my barmaid days when I'd sometimes have a packet with a pickled egg. I rarely see either in pubs any more, though maybe I am just not looking hard enough. I am not bothered about real crisps but the thought of pickled onion flavour Monster Munch makes my mouth water.

I had homemade pork scratching at a bar when I was away ... I'm so glad I don't live near there
I use to eat ready salted crisps at my desk for a late breakfast ... quick easy carbs lol

I might be the only one but just the thought of pork scratchings makes me heave! But then I can't stand any kind of skin on meat - crispy duck becomes just 'duck' if I have it...all the 'crispy' part goes to the side. Same with chicken, my mum swears the skin is the best part but I just couldn't contemplate putting it in my mouth!

This thread was working on my willpower until I saw the pickled egg....GROSS! Some things at least in my opinion just are not meant to be pickled and eggs are one of them.
