Sticking to a diet when eating out

What does everyone else eat when eating out at restaurants?

I'm getting fed up with chicken and bacon salad I don't go out loads, but got several friends staying over then next few weeks and know we'll end up going out. We have a beefeater and harvester down the road which isn't so bad as they have how many calories on the menu but always end up with salad.

Do you just blow the diet off for that meal? So gutting that it takes over a week to lose a few pounds but only takes one meal to put it back on

it depends how well the rest of my week is going

You can always ask to substitute your chips for jacket spud or salad to make it less naughty!

haha. can you believe I've never thought of that

Glad I asked now Love a steak every now & then. The steak isn't that bad but the chips and onion rings kill it with calories. Can't believe I've never thought of asking about changes. I take it they are ok with things like that? I don't like being awkward

Yea places are happy to make changes! We always have to ask when we eat out cos my OH won't eat veg, so even if he has a burger he has to ask for it without anything on top!

A lot of takeaways do low cal options too, I know the Indian down the road from us will make your curry with a lighter sauce and whatnot!

I don't usually count meals out though, probs why I'm not shifting any weight

I try to look for the nutritional details online on the restaurant's website beforehand to see what low calorie meals there are. If they don't have a website or calorie details then I just order a jacket potato with beans and a salad

I really do not limit myself out at a a restaurant, when you start to limit and restrict to only specific things you will always crave (and eat) more. At a restaurant I will still check the calories if I can but if it is a special occasion I will eat whatever I want. The object is to not restrict yourself to the point of being totally discouraged and giving up.

I go for steak and jacket potato or a tomato based pasta. If everybody is having pudding I will too. I dont ever deprive myself, however if I know I'm going out for tea I will not have any syns etc or anything high calorie in the day time.
