Military Diet

Hi has anyone seen this diet floating around the web? Basically you do a rigid eating plan for 3 days/week and weight loss of up to 10 lbs have been reported.

the plan as far as I got :

Day 1,
Breakfast : 1/2 grapefruit, 1 slice wholemeal toast topped with peanut butter, cup black coffee.
Lunch : 1/2 cup tuna, 1 slice wholemeal toast, cup black coffee.
Dinner : 3 oz meat of choice, 1 cup green beans, 1/2 banana, 1 small apple, 1 cup vanilla ice-cream.

Day 2,
Breakfast : 1 egg ( cooked any way ), 1/2 banana, slice wholemeal toast.
Lunch : 1 hard boiled egg, 5 saltine crackers, 1 cup cottage cheese.
Dinner : 2 hot dogs, 1/2 cup carrots, 1 cup broccoli, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream.

Day 3,
Breakfast : 1 small apple, 5 saltine crackers, slice of cheddar cheese.
Lunch : 1 slice wholemeal toast, egg cooked any way.
Dinner : 1 cup tuna, 1/2 banana, cup vanilla ice cream.

big thanks to On The Cheap whose awesome you tube video I pinched this from. Not sure where it originated.

You could be our guinea pig Paul.

So for 3 days you eat what you have posted and the other 4 days you eat nothing.

lol Huntress that might just work Am running out of steam on this 1200 cal/day diet am failing at currently. Still might give it go in a few weeks when off work for the summer hols.
Although am really not a fan of tuna. I had to dissect a fish when I was a small child learning biology and the smell of its rotten innards has left me with an aversion to eating most things of an aquatic origin. Then I watched that horror film the Bay where the parasites mutate and start eating the fish from the insides. Then the people eat the fish and start dying. Nooooooooo fish for me thankyouverymuch

That Fab diet I did a week of consists of weeks 1 & 2 you do 3 low fat meals and 2 low fat snacks totaling 1200 cals. The next two weeks you add 200 cals. Finally go up to 1800 cals / day maintenance. I basically ran out of steam and started eating bacon.
I was told by the eating disorder team I used to be under not to diet anymore just try to eat a well balanced 2500 calories and do gentle exercise like yoga. But I get carried away Its more like a hobby now. Gives me something to research and play with. Maybe I should take up painting or something instead? Except I've amassed a large collection of nutrition and fitness books not to mention the hundred or so workout dvds I've got. Feel a car boot sale coming on, lol.

Paul 1200 is low for anyone but from what I have picked up I think that is FAR too low for you... your body won't want to lose weight. I admit this is a battle I have, I've done the 1200 and still hate it when I go over but I know deep down I'm eating too little and complaining I'm 'stuck' ... defo defo too low for you!

I think you'd be ok doing 1-2 fasting days but not 1200 every day. Ouch. Diet don't punish yourself, IMO when you find that mindset you will fly through.

Its never good to eat such low amounts. Your body needs to adapt to a new lifestyle and eating habits but by going that low you can cause problems because it isn't healthy. Its too much in the other direction. You need to find a suitable middle ground where you can gradually lose weight in a healthy way.

For that reason I would avoid this unless you desperately needed to make weight for a boxing match in a week or something.

1200 Cals is not cool! You may break from too few calories, plus your metabolism will adapt! Best eat more but eat good calories

1200 calories seems very low. I know when I started dieting I was only eating around 1200 calories and Im only 5 ft, but it still wasn't enough and my weight loss soon stalled. Try upping the calories a bit
