Eating right on a budget !

So hard to do !

i always feel that when buy the healthy choices at the grocery shop my bill double ! specially when i load on fruits and veggies .

So i learn mostly to buy what is on season so right now strawberries are cheaper right now ...i saw the cherries are coming in but still pricey !

most of the time i brew my own coffee or tea so save money on that as well

Aldi do a 'super six' each week where 6 selected fruits and veg are reduced to 49p. Other healthy but cheap foods include rice, pasta, potatoes, lentils. Kidney beans in Aldi are 21p a tin

It's mad how expensive healthy food is! Youd think with the government harping on about obesity, they'd make crap more expensive! I find it really hard to stick to a budget, particularly cos I'm veggie and OH won't touch veg! So I have to double up! But things like chickpeas and Tins of beans are cheap!

Its crazy. We can spend upto £100 in asda a week. And not a particular great amount of goodies. I buy smart price biscuits for the kids etc.

Its lean meat that bumps my shop up i think :/

Really is expensive..I'm always in the mood to diet when I'm skint too haha

The government really should do something about it though..1 punnet of strawberries £1.99 or a happymeal for £1.99?!

I know! In my local shop, a packet of crisps is 60p, and a Pink Lady apple is 69p!! It's ridiculous

I grow veggies at home

I grow tomatoes, beans, and few other veggies in my kitchen garden. This helps me save some cash, which I can use to buy fruits.

If you live fairly close to farmland you may be able to cut a deal with a local butcher. My friend buys half a cow or pig and freezes all the cuts. (Great for me as I can then buy things from her!)
