How does your weight affect your self esteem?

I have been both heavy and thin and I can say that for me, there is a noticeable difference in my self esteem when I am at different weights. I have a weight that I feel good at and that seems to be where my body balances out, not to mention where my head "feels" happy at. The problem is that when I am not at that weight, I feel down emotionally. What do you notice about your self esteem when you gain or lose weight?

When I am in "fat mode," I am so self conscious about how I look I hardly want anyone to see me. I feel on display, and not in a good way. I fear people will be judgmental about me. Once I start losing weight and getting closer to my goal, even if I have a ways to go, I start feeling better about myself.

When I was bigger I was so self conscious about myself and always felt so big and horrible, especially in my face. When I am big it shows a lot in my face with a double chin and huge chubby cheeks. I hated my face so so much and it's the part that's most on display! So I spent a lot of time with low self esteem about that. Now I am at my goal weight I like my face so much more and don't cringe when I catch sight of it in a mirror any more!

I definitely have a much lower self esteem when I am heavier. I hate catching sight of myself in the mirror and I will avoid having pictures taken when I am unhappy with my weight.

I am very annoyed, it is not as much of a total self esteem issue but I get annoyed quickly. I guess it just tosses my patience out the window but from what I can tell this is the only main thing that changes for me.

I'm the same as caffeinated, when I feel in fat mode I don't even want to step out the door sometimes.

I took lots of pictures throughout and the self esteem etc weight loss and keeping fit have improved this and also depression and anxiety but I have fat mode days because I'm
Not where I want to be 100% weight is ok but the tum and thighs really bother me.

I've gained this week and I feel yuk.

Everything you guys have said is all true, right? I do get more irritable, but I think that's because I am not happy with myself when I am really heavy. I go in and out of "fat mode", so I totally get it. I also feel crappy about myself when I haven't lost some in a while because I'm not yet at my goal. It affects my motivation, that's for sure! But nice to know we're all pretty similar when it comes to weight and self esteem!

When I'm above my happy weight I'm irritable in general. Nothing fits properly, my face fills out and I don't like it. Being uncomfortable in what I wear is infuriating, but a good reminder that I need to do something about it. Unfortunately i think my family tend to be on the receiving end of the frustration on days like that :-/
When I'm at my happy weight or under everything is rosy x

Amen to this! I am the same! When I am heavier I am miserable. I don't want to be noticed. If someone notices me they will notice my fatness! I am much more confident when I am skinny!
